You could always send them recommended hair and makeup artists until you are ready to include it. Some of my fav photographers still has it as an add on rather than included.

This is great advice. I'm going back over my pricing and redoing my one pager. I am def being clear about my session fee!! I noticed that a lot of photographers don't include a session fee.

What's the difference between being booked by models for shots vs hiring a model for shots? Is there a way to make money doing either? or does one have to be an established photographer before models will want to hire "you" to photograph them.

Honestly, I don't think you will make money as a photographer only photographing models. Models can get "free shoots" anytime they want. I truly think you need to focus on an ideal client who isn't a model such as a bride who wants an album for her wedding day(as an example). Models are more for portfolio work and practicing new skills or poses you wouldn't want to use on a paying client. I hope that makes sense!

I’m a beginner photographer and you said you send your images to a retoucher. Is this the same as editing in Lightroom? Why don’t you retouch your own photos? How do you communicate to the retoucher exactly what you are looking for? What would a typical retoucher charge? How fast is the turn around? Do you cull the images before sending to be retouched? You also mentioned a vender booth at a bridal show. As a soon to retire dentist and an amateur bodybuilder, I have found a bodybuilding/bikini/ figure/fitness competition to be a very rich source of clients/patients advertising whitening, veneers and cosmetic bonding. I think this could also be a very good source for boudoir clients. The women who compete are usually very attractive, very fit and love showing off the results of their hard training and dieting. I think this would be an amazing source of boudoir clients. Your thoughts?

These are such great questions! I'll definitely answer them in another video, but here's a quick answer :. I don't retouch my photos because it is very time consuming. I would rather send them off and have someone else do it for $5ish per image and then charge enough to cover that in my product pricing, giving me more free time to either book more sessions, or work on other money making activities... or just do whatever I want instead of working, ya know? It takes a bit of back and forth communication to get the retoucher on the same page, but usually after one session, they will be able to do what you want! I only send purchased images to the retoucher. Not my full session. I actually LOVE photographing women who are part of the fitness competition industry! They are some of my favorites and I work closely with a few fitness competitors in my area-they send me tons of clients! I think this is a GREAT area to pursue.

One little confusion in this video: At 5:26 you say "Here is a pose you can use to thin out her arms" - but I don't see the pose...? 😉 Maybe it got lost - maybe it wasn't supposed to be included ;-)
