You've just taken on a project way bigger than I think you realize. You're trying to map a 3d sphere into 2 dimensions. If you can, or just imagine it, mapping a beach ball. After deflating it, you can try to cut it in half along the "equator", but you'll find that you can't flatten the two halves without wrinkles. The only way you'll be able to flatten it, is to stretch some parts, which will distort it. I'll try to reply to this comment with links so you can check out what I mean, but they might get deleted.

Yeah I had considered this! I was originally going to try and make the roughly 'm' shaped map variant. However, I'm not that smart so I've decided screw it, I'll just see what happens haha

I really appreciate the heads up though! And thanks for the beach ball analogy, I kinda understand why it won't work now lol 😂 I'm wondering whether the Dev's have already solved the issue though, as all I'm doing is screenshoting a 2d map and the map grid lines do seem to converge at both polls?

SHIFT + Left click stuff to shove it straight into cargo so you don't have to click n drag all the time 😊

ask them if there are any hacks for building a support, deep in the ocean. I tested building a hill on land but if it's too steep the dirt just slides off. so you'd need a massive hill from the bottom of the ocean, even if you could get the terrain tank underwater.

Oh that's really interesting, I thought it was a glitch that dirt slid. I might have to do some more testing to see if we can slide dirt to the bottom of the Ocean. And the Dev's mentioned some code to allow flight and other things, but I don't think they want to reveal them just yet. If my content gains a wider audience I hope they might consider working with me in the future though and potentially letting me use those features. Really appreciate the suggestions and information! :)

Building on water is on the road map along with boat and flight blocks. TTW 0.6 Unstable-2 Beta is up for testing and has pretty much put the game back to a limited demo as there's a lot of other stuff being completely reworked. Last update was this Unstable version will have several iterations over the next few months so could be a while before anything new lands on live version.

Just a quick heads up for you, the latest Unstable 0.6.0-1 TTW patch dropped and there's a LOT of changes. Biggest ones relavent to your mega build project being reconfigured game world and a lot of the basic base blocks(like the 4x4 floor panels) have changed. It WILL break any existing saves and builds. If you do install the unstable beta version, DO NOT load any of your old saves. Your bases and your bridge WILL break and there is a chance the backups will derp too so there's potentially no going back. I only loaded mine to test how they were handling it and it's not pretty. I wasn't particularly invested in any of my builds though so FOR SCIENCE 😂 If Payload progress with the unstable beta the same as the last major update you've probably got maybe a month or maybe 2 before the unstable branch starts going live and it will mean clean slate, start over.

@@legionson they've changed the connection points on the 4x4 floor panels and added a lot of other variations of panels and ramps. By the looks of it it isn't just a modification to the asset but a completely new asset. If you load up an old save ALL the floor panels and anything held up by them will fall off. You're also going to lose all the vehicle blocks and tools you have unlocked when you start a new game. The crafting system has been reworked so how we unlock new blocks and get them is totally different. Where it gets real fun is the game world has had a lot of changes. Loading up an old save ends up with trees and resource nodes floating or buried or way out to sea depending on how the land has been altered. Some of the NPC spawns have techs literally falling out of the sky. One of my saves had a base up a mountain in swamp. I loaded in and fell straight into the sea because the mountain isn't there anymore 😂 From what I've seen the only area that hasn't had a lot of rework is desert biome.

@@legionson yeah, about that...the new v2.0 game world has a lot more distance between the continents now too. That might change. Current iteration is intentionally locked to just the Woods area and they've restricted blocks that are available. Ppl are still getting to the other biomes by using recoil from guns to push them along but apparently it's a mess when they get there. It's a very incomplete version for now. On a plus side it is on the road map to add boat and flight blocks plus building on water. Feck knows when they'll get that out the door though 😂

I've just tried the unstable today. I did not expect such a huge change to the building/scavenging mechanics! I have no clue how people have made it to other biomes, must have taken ages! I'm hoping the distance between the biomes is only because they haven't finished them yet like you say, but if they bring out the ability to build on water it wouldn't be a problem I guess. Really looking forward to the new building mechanics since you can enable block clipping now. Should be able to build smoother bridge junctions I hope! Now I'm just counting on being able to change back to the non-unstable and opening the bridge world again 😂😅

Thanks for stopping by! The game's called TerraTech Worlds. It's still in early access so has some bugs and lots of features planned but overall I'm really enjoying the game and I'd recommend it if you're into open world sand box survival games :)

my favorite fast start is from the start spawn go straight to the coastline and then follow it round keeping it on your left. Keep going past the foot of the hill with the crane on top and you'll find an island. There's a couple of NPC's out there, pew pew plants and some puffballs but there's also a chest with 4x med wheels in it. Next I go up to the crane base for the laser and loot then off up to the mountain base where there's 2 small cargo and 2 small batts as well as some loot. Even just the wheels are a big head start compared to running around on the basic wheels. Just for a laugh I also took to running right across the map through swamp, over the yellow bridge and all the way round to the Desert border base right after I got me the med wheels. If you come around the far side and carefully creep in, you can take out the marker on top of the structure that has the wind and solar genies on top with just basic gun and a bit more ammo than you started with. Yoink the Wind and solar and then back out the way you came without even agroing the guards for FREE POWER. It's just a case of timing it so you go in during the night.

hold t and press the Terrain tool button for other terrain modes. Could you go to the bottom and then put the terrain tank on? but practice on land, there is a limit to how high you can build and dig.. it's not much. so I think you'll have to follow the land.
