Just road-tripped my Rivian from Texas to Alabama, 4 of my 6 stops were at Bucee’s superchargers. 3 of the 4 sites were v4 posts.

Quartzite, AZ is 84 stalls in it's single location, but Tesla has 120 stalls in town, and there are 6 RAN and 4 EA chargers as well.

Nice to see larger sites open up. I just wish they would design more pull through stalls similar to a gas station helps with EVs that are pulling trailers

if this gets any larger, you’ll need a Segway to get around that site

When did the Magic Docks on the version 3's go live - I was there in July and I don't remember there being magic docks there ( I might have missed them) and don't remember them showing on the TESLA super charger website. I thought the closest magic docks were up near Dallas fort worth at the time. I was driving a rented F-150 Lighting at the time - I am now one month into ownership of a used 2021 Model Y back in Maryland!!!!

Brandon, well you probably should’ve mentioned that the Mercedes chargers would certainly be delivering more power on an 800 V car like the Porsche Taycan, Lucid Air m, Hummer EV or any EGMP Kia, Hyundai or Genius vehicle. Probably worth the four cents a kilowatt hour as long as they do deliver the speeds they claim .

Did I see $1.78 for regular unleaded? That’s crazy cheap, $4.59 here in California and I drive an id4 because of that. If gas was $1.78 I’d be hard pressed to buy an EV if it’s 50 ish cents a kWh since it would cost as much or more to drive an EV there. Trying not to be a hater since I love my EV.

Branden, will the utility provide CPOs voltage above 480, maybe 800 - 1000V? Or must the CPO raise it themselves?
@Ducain_Plays2 күн бұрын
Nice video! Love seeing more chargers getting installed especially as more EVs gain access. My local bu-cees just added a bunch of Version 4 stalls and it now has a total of 28 stalls. Charged my wifes Bolt their recently since they just got access 🙂

Wow, 51 cents at Mercedes seems high. Here in SW Florida, our utility Florida Power and Light charges only $0.30. Sadly, they have no customer service on weekends & holidays.

For those not from Texas, this is not surprising to anyone. What Branden did not show you is that this Bucee's gas station also has 56 gas pumps in the same parking lot, and ~50 individual bathroom stalls, every single one cleaner than yours at home.

Arizona has a HUGE charging site in Quartzsite. Between Phoenix and the California border. 2 sites in the area. The 'old' one has 36 chargers. The new one has 84.

The US needs more large sites with convenience stores in the same area. They also need to future proof and put in some higher capacity chargers. It would have been nice if Tesla had moved forward with the battery swapping stations, as another way to get a charged battery on long road trips.

Quartzite AZ is bigger. 84 stalls in one spot, and 36 more a couple of blocks away. And 4 EA stalls across the interstate.

Stalls? Bathrooms? A location which has a collection of EV chargers is called a CHARGING STATION. The individual chargers are calls CHARGING POINTS, or CHARGERS. I know, we all have to learn the new terminology. !
@gerrylum2 күн бұрын
Well, since Tesla themselves also refers to them as "stalls", I don't see what the issue is.

Assuming one is charging to 80% from 10%, at 70 MPH you would need to charge 4.86 times; and at 80 MPH you would need to charge 6.01 times. What is the charging duration from 10% to 80%? What is the charging time for 0.86 of the 10% to 80%? Remember to take into effect the charge curve for the 0.86 of the charge (it would not be including the slower charging at the last 0.14 of the charging). Thanks for providing the data!

I would kind of like to see more 8 or 12 stall SC sites than the huge mega sites like this, but it is cool. I hate going to Buc-ees... always crazy getting in and out and usually just too many people. Obviously many people love it though.

That’s an amazing site and cool to see so many EVs charging. High visibility stations and lots of cars makes it easier for non-EV drivers to see both the infrastructure at work and that it’s common for people to use it. tbh, couldn’t tell the difference between the 16 and 14. Enjoyed it, regardless.

I had range anxiety prior to buying and went for the rwd long range and very quickly I realized range is not an issue for me with nightly charging. Actually I drive like to drive proactively and assertive , no blocking the left lane or Sunday driving mode if you get what I mean. That being said I probably could have went for the dual motor with no range issue however I do get plenty of power from the rwd it’s not like I’m a racer I’m just and everyday commuter. Whichever you choose for your lifestyle you will be very happy. I have had every type of car and just went from a V8 full size pick up truck to the model y and I can say it’s the best car I’ve driven. NO MORE $90 gas fill ups…….08 cents per KW now. Huge difference!

Thing I don’t like about my model y is at night. Door handles don’t present themselves so hard to find handles to get in at night. No back seat lighting so anything you need to get back there including air flow you need a flashlight to get to any controls. Albeit the only air flow back there has no controls😂 but you can redirect the air flow per se. I did add a ceiling split slide so I can reduce sun in front or back seats. I thought about a Rivian but it’s a four hour one way drive for me just to see one. Might go to Carvana to see one I guess. Just my thoughts.
