I never realized her song with Shaggy didn’t chart so well, radio stations were playing that song all the time back in the day! And it’s also sad with Justin Timberlake, the NFL, all that mess in 2004. Also, it’s ironic, given what happened at the Super Bowl, and the album cover of _Damita Jo_ shows her essentially topless… I know it wasn’t intentionally like "that", but that must not have helped the situation with haters. 😔

It’s because shaggy said Janet was difficult to work with when they finished the song. Janets label did not promote the song at all because of that and shaggy re-recorded a more successful version of the song with a different girl. I’m surprised you actually heard Janets version or maybe you heard Samantha coles version instead.
