Great video ! Very helpful. Finally just starting using the same gun (but purple) my wife bought me probably 15 years ago. So far I really like it. Only issue is the needle seat nut seems weird and if you don't have it set just right it drips paint everywhere. Not sure why. Just picked up a used FLG3 but the bottom can type. Figured it might be good for primers ?

Dumb question probably for a future project. Can you make it hot swappable with an iPad mini?
@dr.dansgarageАй бұрын
That’s a good question. It would be possible to attach an ipad with a specifically sized “plug” to fit into the main body instead of the paper. That size is 101.6 x 151.2 mm. The only reason to do so would be if one wanted to switch back and forth between paper and ipad. Otherwise, I believe there are other ipad options available.

That would be handy. My plan is to walk around the sides. There is enough room to step but I will add some grip tape in case it gets slippery. The boat is 95% done. I’ll get it completely finished this summer.

I personally would have stayed away from that serpentine belt- it may make a mess of your return line if it lets go. And using hard tubing for the return line - it being so close to the extremely hot turbo. I'm liking your videos - Thanks.

Looks sturdy enough. Did you allow enough clearance above the curved strut ? Just in case you need to drop the sump, if you need to work on the bottom end - so you don't need to lift the motor with all the extra hoses, lines and exhaust tubing, that'll need disconnecting

This looks like a good improvement over the older horizontal setups. Questions: Can you tell me what size (in GPH and cone angle) oil-burner orifice you used? What air pressure are you using to atomize the oil? And what oil consumption rate (GPH) are you getting with that size orifice and air pressure? Thank you for posting up this video.
@dr.dansgarage6 ай бұрын
I don’t remember the nozzle size but probably 0.35. I think I ran it at about 60 psi. I never kept track of the burn rate; I would just add oil to the tank when it was running low. I still have the entire unit but it’s been removed for several years.

Nice ! Those props look special .. and expensive !! Tell us more .. happy flying
@dr.dansgarage6 ай бұрын
Yeah they are MT composite props and they are expensive. Thankfully they were on the plane when I bought it so I didn't have to do the purchase price. The purported benefit is less noise and vibration, maybe a bit better climb speed. I don't have anything to compare them to so probably true but unverified by me. What I can confirm is that they are more fragile than aluminum props. The rear prop is susceptible to damage from gravel or debris. It has happened to me. They are repairable but it costs money.

That thing got so thin you keep sanding it. Get a new ignition barrel a universal one will also work cost around $35aud. Maybe your starter solenoid is bad but you think it's the switch. Turn on ignition and go touch a screw driver across starter's positive and negative solenoid terminals to see if it starts directly that way.
@dr.dansgarage7 ай бұрын
When I did this, a replacement ignition was out of stock everywhere. I've since purchased and received a new one but I haven't had to replace it yet because the repaired one is still working fine.
