If Micah was merely interested in the Van Der LInde gang, why would he save only a wanted poster and zero newspaper clippings? Every newspaper article about the gang had within it orders of magnitude more information about the gang than does a wanted poster for only Dutch and no other gang members.

If you're at level 10 in Limgrave, and you're level 50(5 times your starting level) when you get to Mountaintops of the giants, you did something wrong. Probably multiple somethings. Edit: Yes, the different weapons once levelled up, are very different from each other. And the reason you should at least carry one of each type and affinity? All enemies are weak to something. Main bosses are mostly very weak to Bleed, so if you're having trouble, try using a Katana or imbue your weapon with Bloodflame. Erdtree Avatar giving you hell? Use a fire affinity weapon. That sort of thing.

I mean, he’s obviously new to souls games just by how he plays. He also ran the ultimate “new to soul’s games build”. Bull Goat armor, katana, ect. This game was probably terrifyingly difficult for him so he probably didn’t do a lot of exploring or fighting bosses in the open world so he just didn’t have to deal with it. Bosses in caves and catacombs don’t allow you to summon mimic tear and probably wasn’t taking on anything if he couldn’t summon. He has some valid points for sure but a lot of his critiques reflects a lack of understanding of souls games.

I played both of them games. as a character I like Arthur and I think Arthur is really slightly better than John. I played rdr2 first and recent week I finished rdr1. Rdr2 is way more advanced and the best finished product by rockstar games.

John was a legend in the west, lead a countries revolution and was trained by the best gunman in the west. Arthur was forgotten and was too blind a follower of dutch. And I think John slowly dying from 20 bullets in the chest is more badass than a sore throat lol

I have a different take from most here: John Marston was one of my Top 3 favorite game protagonists, but after RDR2, I felt like he wouldn’t be who he is without Arthur-and that was the whole point. To me, Arthur is more complex and contemplative than John. I played with bad morale the whole game, and that made his journal entries hit harder; seeing his struggle with who he was, plus his humor and insight, showed me a side beyond the ‘monster’ I’d originally thought he was. I never felt pushed towards good until Chapter 6, which made his redemption feel so much more impactful. As for who’s the ‘better’ character, I think that’s the wrong question. Arthur feels like a mentor to John, even influencing his look and skills like Dead Eye. He’s more like an older brother-the wiser, more mature figure who inspires John to become the man we know. That’s why John’s revenge on Micah matters so much; it’s like he’s carrying on Arthur’s hopes and dreams. It goes beyond Arthur just being ‘jealous’ of John. In the end, he’s proud of him for finding what he never could: a real life with a wife and child, and the chance to escape the cycle Arthur felt trapped in. It also why it felt natural for John to not finish the game without killing Micah and resolving Arthur’s unfinished business.

Arthur didn't make john who he is,dutch and hosea did.He also never inspired john to do anything either.John, unlike arthur, was clearly done with dutch way before arthur was.Even arthur shits on him for not being blindly loyal to dutch. This has head cannon written all over it lmao.

John is completely overshadowed in RDR2 i agree, none of the pinkertons know who john is , hes called the golden boy but in the ledger the women in the camp are donating more money. I see they wanted to give more attention to other characters but arthur and john by this time have been brothers for 10 plus years regardless if john left for a year these two should have been closer with more missions or having john save arthur in "blessed are the peacemakers."

I like Arthur more than John and i did play rdr1 before rdr2. Arthur felt more genuine not only as a member of the gang but as part of the rag tag family they were. He wasn't a yes man. He was the gangs first line of defense and the one to go to when something important needed to get done and no one else had the skill to handle it. Arthur was bitter at John because he constantly complained at camp and snap at Jake and seek every opportunity to avoid having a conversation with Abigail when she was trying to have a deep talk with him. Abigail could hold her own against Johns attidudes but Jake was a such a good, innocent, boy and didn't deserve to get snapped at by someone who called themself a man. So not only did Arthur have to take care of the gangs needs, and his own responsibilities, but he was also being guilted into stepping into the role that John was suppose to be filling. Being a father and an adult. And Arthur didnt like bein used in their spats and you can tell it when he talks to abigail about bein made to be the stand in nanny. Not only was Mary using him but even abigail, who he did have a sort of crush on, was using him as well. Which he ultimately accepts is just his lot in life but he still does put his own frustrations aside and do what he needs to do in order to help those he cares about. Like an older brother. Arthur didnt stick with Mary because his family was the gang not because he didn't know what he wanted to do. It was filled with people who he cared for and who he grew up with for a long time and even saved his life. He in turn was the one that kept them safe and provided for them. Not out of sole obedience to the code but because they're his family. As messed up and misguided as they were they still had moments that are wholesome, funny, charming, frightening and deep. To abandon that for a family who was broken, fake, shallow and filled with lofty airs wasn't a life Arthur could stand. Even for Mary.

great game but i think the world could've been a little smaller with less reused assets. the scale is breathtaking on a first play-through but feels kinda intimidating for subsequent play-throughs, especially if you're the kind of person who has a backlog haha.

I think they failed to make us hate Abby early on. We already knew Joel had basically doomed the world through his actions and I wasn't surprised someone came after him and did to him exactly what he'd done to so many others. It was hard to blame Abby for this right from the start, even before we know her father was the surgeon. We'd also played as her already, so we already had a connection with her. Personally I thought she was kind of more likable than Ellie throughout the game. She was nicer to strangers, and generally spared people where possible (not Joel obviously, but Ellie multiple times, Lev etc). Abbey killed one of Ellie's people at the start. And in return Ellie killed almost all of Abby's people. I quite liked the first half of the game, but my biggest problem was the stuff they set up that then went nowhere. Ellie never even finds out that Joel killed Abby's father. It just never comes up. I expected a moment between Ellie and Abby where Ellie is able to see that Abby is just like her, and that Ellie is now just doing exactly as Abby had, but worse. But no, never happens. She only changes her mind at the end because of a 1-second glimpse of Joel playing guitar. I don't think it was her forgiving Abby, but more about what Joel would have wanted, or a gentle memory of Joel making her pull back. But ultimately it was a lame revenge story that has been done hundreds of times: event motivates revenge, spend game/movie seeking revenge, kill lots of innocent people along the way without a second thought, and then grow a conscience in the last moment to spare the only person you were actually after to begin with. Nothing original here. In the first game we were literally on a mission to save the world. Ellie is special. Great twist ending to make us question Joel's actions. Second game is just a lame revenge story. Ellie is not special. Ending has no surprises. Very bleak, well done. Revenge is bad, got the message, nothing new. I don't mind bleak, but not pointless bleakness. I've heard them talk about making the 3rd game about Tommy. Can't think of anything more boring. Would that just be abother revenge story? Boring. Instead they should fix their mess. Third game could see Abby and Ellie having to work together, against their instincts. Abby has news of another doctor who can help. Ellie eventually goes with her to find the doctor, knowing it means death whether they succeed or fail. The twist that no one expects at the end of the game is that it goes well! In these games bleak is not a twist, success is. It may not quite go as planned, but ultimately they do develop a vaccine and the we end with some optimism about the world. It could even be that the new doctor doesn't need to kill Ellie (probably too happy for Naughty Dog, but that's exactly why no one will see it coming). The new doctor may be shocked that the other doctor wanted to kill her, saying that the host must be alive in order to study how her immunity works. Sure, some loved characters might die along the way. Maybe Abby sacrifices herself to get Ellie to her destination. Maybe Ellie even gets shot when they're really close and Abby has to carry her the rest of the way (Ellie being unconscious but not dead). Instead they'll go with death and dispair and it won't surprise anyone, because that's the only thing they think is powerful.

I agreed with most of this. I describe it as one of the best and worst games I've played. It occurred to me too that the story happens almost entirely off-camera. It's like a text-based adventure, and in between you just run around killing everything for some reason. The friendly NPCs pretty much never DO anything. They just stand motionless and emotionless delivering their lines and then stand still until you rest. Then they carry out the bulk of their story off-camera till next you find them in a random place to continue the dialogue. I do think this is a flaw. Why even bother reading all the lore when it makes no difference, and mostly makes no sense. I generally DO like ambiguous endings, but thought these endings were mostly lame. Short cut-scenes that were pretty similar, with no clear indication as to what direction they would go. I loved the game, but if I were to describe it to someone I think it would mostly be criticisms. I have no desire to play any of their previous games, as I loved the open world here, but will probably be on board for their next one.

Only video that acknowledges that Mac calendars death is up in the air. If he died he'd have a grave and still no one has ever found one. His brother Davey even has one in Colter. Could be, dutch let Davey get shot up and Mac flipped and agent Milton lied to Arthur. There's no in game proof that Mac ever died
@dylanmurray1302 ай бұрын
What are you on about? Arthur saves John from the noose, then sees Dutch’s melt down after the comes back to the camp. Of course that’s going to make two men bond. They don’t need to explicitly tell you John and Arthur have made up, we see it happen. A few missions later, John and Arthur rig the bridge for the train robbery, and Arthur do exactly what you asked, they reminisce and come to the conclusion that John and his family have to get out. It’s all pretty organic, I feel. As for the camp conversation and interactions, they are as big a part of the game as any other part of the game, they flesh out the characters and make the whole experience feel real. Those interactions are as important as any cinematic in the game and lend to multiple play throughs, because they can be missed.

Elden Ring is not perfect but to say the devs were lazy IN ANY CAPACITY is straight up braindead. And then to say it's less repetitive than MGS5.. come on now. It's not a game for everyone, but the world is expertly crafted, and every castle and dungeon is like a puzzle to solve if you're interested in collecting all the pieces. The combat is engaging and visceral, and the sheer number of weapons means that you don't have to play it like anyone else.. they don't expect you to use everything, but instead find a playstyle 'you like'. Sticking with the same stuff and strategy all game is a you problem. Also stating that the devs make you fight a boss only the way they want... is exactly the point, you have to figure out where the weaknesses are in their patterns and their defenses. There was a lot of reasonable points in this video but also your mentality of what it is has missed the mark by a small margin.

john and abigail get "special treatment" because they're a family, something that arthur seemingly wanted and could've had but had thrown away. sure, it'd be nice to see john and arthur bonding more but arthur deciding to save john and abigail is less about john and more about family.

I think it's possible that you might be missing the very long and subtle ways that Rockstar shows them making up. I think you are also not realizing the gravity of John apologizing and Arthur saying he understands. Arthur was in Johns position a long time ago and he didn't want John making the same mistakes. That is a very obvious detail slapping us in the face. The moment Arthur didn't know what to say, it's him being in pain because he was trying so hard to help John and being powerless to do anything in the moment. Especially if John wasn't willing to listen. Arthur was the kind of person to give the gang a hard time to show how much he cares. He's not one for words so he went with light teasing. I don't think John really understood that about him. He could only see the criticism and feel like he was being told he wasn't good enough on all sides. He couldn't see that everyone was trying to help him because he was just so lost. While Arthur gave him a hard time he also was genuinely trying to help him. He was frustrated with him like you would any family member that messed up. Don't undervalue the fact that of the gang Arthur and John are literally brothers. They are around the same age and and grew up together. Themselves, Dutch and Hosea are the really just family. You can see it most when John is confiding into Arthur on that one mission... the one where you are planting tnt bundles on the tracks. At the end you really see just how much Arthur cares for him advocating that at the very least he Abigail and Jack get out alive. He's willing to throw in everything to save them. Seeing his time is up gives himself to make sure John gets away. It may seem small though at the end when John says he and Arthur are brothers. I meant that past blood and any other barrier they are brothers. They live and die by one another and nothing an get between them. I think them making up is very long and subtle. Arthur was frustrated with John because he hadn't quite figured things out yet. Though he loved him as family above all else. Towards the end pay attention to just how much he advocates for him. He was always in his corner and the the thing is that it was just tense in the beginning. Also I think Sadie has the best arch in all the gang bar none. If you really pay attention to her you can see just how much she grows and change. She has the most satisfying story in the entire game in my opinion.

“Show him helping the side characters out” you mean like when we saw him help Abigail, Tilly, Jack, Trelawney, and the whole final mission was about helping John escape. As well as helping Captain Monroe, Beau Gray, and Penelope braithwaite. Arthur literally helped everyone that he could/let him.

Bro with buddy is criticizing similar bosses having similar fights and move sets. Every single game ever does this to some extent from Mario 64 to God of War. That’s a wild hill to die on 😂 they can’t make 1000 encounters all be unique or the game would have come out in 2030 and cost $300.

Arthur is so much more of a complex character than you are giving rockstar. His past, values (most of all being loyalty to the gang which ends up changing to loyalty to what matters). We know why he doesn't like John it is him leaving the gang but more importantly jack especially because he sees John as lucky for even getting to have his family when Arthur lost his. Also you can find Abigail thanking John in camp after and apologized for not saying it. Also I believe John had a problem with him drowning Bronte instead of just shooting him, though I do kinda agree with your point at the same time.

Playing it for the first time a few years after the hype. It’s not my first fromsoft experience, I’m finding myself very overwhelmed by the immense size of it in a way I never felt w the previous games. I’m constantly discovering new branches while I’m already committed to a certain path, and the primary feeling I get is anxiety that this is another point of interest I’m going to forget to come back to and explore. I guess there are worse problems to have in a game, but I feel like I’m leaving so much behind as I play through it. And I simply don’t have the time and patience now to explore every square inch like I did when I was a teenager with much smaller games. Always afraid I’m missing out.
