Seeing this reminds me how poor I was growing up, I could never afford to get very far on this game, even on Space Invader's - PWT (Poor white trash)

I swear, Dirk The Daring is the most inept knight to ever exist as a character, but the message to me as a kid was clear. No matter how dorky you are, always strive to be the biggest and best man you can be, always do right, be honorable, and never give up on your goals. Sounds like an after school special right? Well, it worked for me.

The issues with the game was 1 death and the game was over. Very costly to play.

I could never quite get to grips with the timing of the moves of the arcade game, but it was truly marvellous to watch someone play it right - especially considering it was the 80s! There wasnt anything quite like it.

Fuck this game. It stole so much money and time. I don't think it was ever fun. Just aggravation and anger. When I went to the arcade my parents told me I was banned from that game because of my attitude after trying to play it and I tried to rip the joystick off due to anger temper tantrums

Boy, this takes me back to my teenage years at the arcade. When I played the game, it skipped over the part where Dirk entered the castle. It would start at 0:15. Back In My Day, there weren't any arrows to guide you either. I've never seen that before. 6:00 - Ah yes, the Black Knight. My nemesis. 8:20 - TIL that Jim Morrison used to refer to himself as "The Lizard King" because he believed that he could communicate with reptiles. Just Say No, kids. 10:24 - The Dragon's Lair!

I remember not getting past ghost horse as a kid. The latency timing was always different in each arcade. Basically a scam. $5 gone in less than 10 minutes was a lot for a 12 year old who worked and saved in the 80s

She’s giggles like she fixed the playing field from the start, and watched his struggles with amusement, with each universe that ended in failure feeding her need for a blood sacrifice… WATCH OUT, DIRK! SHE’S A SUCCUBUS! MAYBE EVEN A BELDAM!

Dragons Lair is beautiful, it it’s not really a game. I’d rather just watch an animation than having to press a button every so often…

emulating the LED display of the actual game/machine, it's probably jumping all over the place due to editing, as this clip was probably pierced together from many attempts of playing the game to get through it,

Loved comics and animation and Suddenly! this NEW game arrived at a local arcade. The animation looked incredible, not knowing how to play it properly , it ate a small fortune in coins. I wanted to see the whole thing, left frustrated 41 years ago. Thanks for posting this , I finally got to see the whole thing 😊

Was watching a Gameranx video on the 30 worst consoles of all time, and I was praying they wouldn’t mention the Sega Multi-Mega (which was a Sega Genesis and Sega CD in a compact size), thankfully they didn’t. But that’s where I remember playing this game in the early/mid 90s, and my brother and I could never beat it. Every time we got to a part to use your sword we didn’t know what button to press and seemingly nothing worked. Here I am 30 years later finally getting to see how it ended, and good lord the animator really like to draw a woman, lmao 😂🤣.

Just recently played this game for the first time at our small town arcade, and i must admit this is incredible, however i dont understand how someone is supposed to figure out what to do. Sometimes it seems that you have to move one way because of the way the cartoon is drawn, but really you have to go a different direction, and other times you think that you can fight something, but you just have to dodge it instead. I dunno, maybe i just have a skill issue, but this is still a great game regardless!
