I don't know if "Canadiana" is a genre, but if it is, this album defines it. I found this looking for more Bruno Gerussi and was not disappointed. Spoken word is a neglected medium, but in the right situation it can be very powerful. This does seem to be a concept album with the dog being the device that ties it together thematically. It grows on one with repeated listenings.

Oh it’s a genre all right. And no pairing will ever embody the genre as titanically as Gerussi/Ambrose. Not even McKenzie/Lee.

Goodness, I had almost forgotten how good this novel was and the adaptation is marvellous. Sounds more genuine, closer to the good side of Hollywood. Not perfect but enjoyable.

Watched this 40 years ago, bits of it lived with me all these years, and I wanted desperately to see if it stood the test of time. It profoundly did. Just like the others here, I've been searching high and low for this. I thought I'd never see it again. Thank you immensely.

@@unpopularculp That's the only place I ever saw any mention of it, other than that short clip of the Arena scene I found a while back. On my way to Cape Breton last summer I was very tempted to stop in Truro and see if there was a Goodwill that might have a dusty copy on a shelf, meanwhile your video was already here, just waiting for me to remember to search once more. I wish they would re-release this. Now I know how truly great this was.

If you know ANYTHING about programming and Dick Sutphen's teachings, then you KNOW how insane religion is! Seriously believing in a naked dude nailed to a cross whose creators from the M.E. came to Europe and bashed our ancestors' brains to force that crap upon them who were peaceful pagans... FOR SHAME hearting that idiot!

Does anyone remember a commercial for a plastic gadget that would make flower type things out of yarn. You would pull it and it would pop out a decorative flower that you could attach to sweaters or what-have-you? I believe it would have been early to mid 80s. I remember seeing it on so many afternoons and can't remember the name of it.

They should have kept the simpler, cuter version of Marcy from the "Happy Day Express" and "Let the Sunshine In" and "Christmas With Marcy" (not to be confused with the “Christmas Is On Its Way” album), instead of the creepy looking ventriloquist dummy. Also, why does Marcy's father on the last song sound somewhat like Ray Charles? 🤨
