climate change...sweetheart, the climate has been changing from day one. Worsening floods? Had man not covered all the green spaces with concrete and asphalt, the water you splash through in your floods would have had time to seep into the earth rather than flowing into rivers and into the ocean. That is also where your drinking water is headed, into the oceans. California, rather than releasing all the rain water you get into the ocean, why not capture that water for a dry day? Oh, no! Cannot!! That is impeding nature - that same nature that is flowing away rather than being used to drink? OK...

Japan is the odd one out in as far as, shall we say, no historical boots on the ground there. However there certainly are close bonds and affection. I wonder if the mutual mindset has anything to do with the geographical similarities of being a very significant island state sitting just off a powerful continental main.

What a superficial heap of drivel. The speaker talks about British "appreciation" of Indian cuisine. It is actually Bangladeshi cuisine that we eat in soc-called "Indian" restaurants in the UK, so a more accurate description would have been "cuisine from the Indian sub-continent." But, Indian it is not.
@traveliu22 сағат бұрын
Thank you for pointing that out, Mark! You're absolutely right that much of the cuisine labeled as "Indian" in the UK has strong roots in Bangladesh and the broader Indian subcontinent. An odd one I'd add is Colombia. That dates back to the 1800's when Simon Bolivar sent a man named Don Luis Lopez Mendez to London to help in his freedom fight against the Spanish. He managed to raise 6'000 volunteers who became the "British legion". Their victory at the Battle of Boyacà ended Spanish rule in the region. Infact Bolivar was so pro British, if it hadn't been for his general persuading him to keep the official language as Spanish, English would of been the official language of Colombia.
