You know how certain songs seem to capture some form of magic? This, despite its weird structure and simple arrangement, is one of them.

awesome song - the vocals, the chorus, the guitar, post-production. absolute grandeur, as for any song in the album.

I was never in Australia but thanks to Triffids I feel like I know a bit about being there.

My Australian cousins daughter just got married to a Scot. Their wedding dance was Loch Lomond by Runrig from 1979. I had a lightbulb moments Surely this helped inspire David to write Wide Open Road which has a musical quote of Loch Lomond; and the Runrig version ends with them almost singing Wide Open Banks...

How do you think it feels to wake up in the morning and know you just wrote the greatest Australian song.

Another jewel from a band that deserved so much more attention. Shame on all of you who ignored this band. Buy or at least listen to CALENTURE (the album).

If you find this causes those enormous feelings of the romance of the road, please go to Joni Mitchell's Hyera & you may just cry tears of loss for a journey you maybe never had, but somehow has always seemed just out of reach, like the greatest unrequited love!
