How do you make the blackberry juice from the frozen berries
@GoofyThingsIDoАй бұрын
I currently use a Victorio #200 hand cranked juicer. I start by taking the frozen berries and a little water in a pot on the stove and fairly slowly heat them. Freezing them before juicing helps break cell walls making them release more juice. As the berries thaw I mash them with a potato masher and let the mixture get hot. Once everything is thawed and mashed I feed it through the juicer. My old method, before someone gave me the juicer, was to heat the berries to thaw then, mash them with the potato masher, then strain with a spaghetti strainer, followed buy a second straining with a fine mesh strainer. After juicing I add the left over pulp and seeds to a pot of water and boil that for a while before straining again. I then use this flavored water, with sugar added, to water down the blackberry juice for wine...although it makes a pretty nice summer beverage or mixer as is.

How many sets of the four blade groups did you end up using in the final machine, and what is the length of each blade?
@GoofyThingsIDo2 ай бұрын
The final version has 12 sets of blades that are 10.718 inches long (10 7/8"). I don't think that many is strictly necessary but it works well. The current spacing of the blades from top to bottom is - one set of blades, two nuts, another set of blades, then a 3 inch space, a set of blades, single nut, blades, single nut, blades, single nut, blades, about a 3 inch space, then the rest of the blades clocked about 45 degrees apart. The fan setup I had in the video was a problem. If I needed to stop for some reason before the apples were fully chopped it made them very difficult to remove so I needed enough space between blades to get at least a partial apple out the bottom.

Hoover doesn't subscribe to that sort of thinking, especially when it comes to rock climbing. He often takes the most difficult path. I frequently have to stop him from trying to climb rocks that I can't climb.

If there is contact information on that poster for Chopper, maybe you could contact them and send them this video. I had a cat go missing for several days and I was heartbroken. I put up posters and placed them in my neighbor's mailboxes. I walked miles yelling his name in the hopes that he would answer me. The posters paid off. One of my neighbors who got one of my posters called me and I came rushing out of my house and down the street. Turns out he was at the entrance of a storm sewer and very sick and dehydrated (he had diabetes and was without his insulin for days). We rushed him to the vet and after two days in intensive care we took him home, feeling his old self again. So it doesn't hurt to try and contact those people. Thanks for taking care of those babies, and for working to get them off the street and into safe, happy homes.❤

Thank you. The various versions of this chopper has probably saved me thousands of dollars over the years. I am very good at scrounging so have very little money invested. I also get free apples every year. This year I picked 1,400 Lbs of apples (not all used for cider) and pressed 69 gallons of juice/sweet cider. That earliest version wasn't the most efficient but it got the job done and had several thousand Lbs of apples run through it before it was replaced by a better more efficient version.
