The effects look so dated now, but they were pretty solid in their day, almost 50 years ago.....

Watched this every Christmas when I was a young girl... I was 13 when I watched it for the last time, which I did with my brother, who was 8 - sadly he passed away, shortly after his 9th birthday... So lovely to see this again, it hasn't aged well perhaps, but the nostalgia is strong..... Brings back memories of when my brother was still with us, for sure

Hey! You have an upload of The Snow Queen BBC 1976. I am so desperate to find a copy of that to gift to someone. Childhood memories! Its impossible to buy anywhere. Would you be able to send me a copy? I would pay for it!

Yes, Danny Ross was excellent. Sadly died of heart attack at just 45 years of age. Jimmy died of an overdose on the day of his mother's funeral.

The son moved there with them to help out. He could've stayed in the city but he chose this. He isn't paying rent or for food , which he'd have to if he stayed in the city. I think it's fair

It’s so nostalgic this series, brilliant able to watch it again as it’s hard to find. Thank you for uploading it. Poor Molly, those girls at her new school were so unnecessarily nasty and vicious. Luckily it does get better for the Addis family.

Thank you for sharing this important milestone in “Our Lifeboat Station History, and for showing the conditions that we sometimes have to go out in, The “RNLB INCHCAPE” was a fantastic asset to us and I was very sad to See Her Go! We continue the service in the memory of those Six Brave Souls from Arbroath who lost their lives in such tragic circumstances in 1953, And we will Never Forget them, No matter the conditions, the Weather or the circumstances, if we are paged “We Will Come” With greatful thanks, An Arbroath Crew Member.

Although this works a lot better on radio imo ( Jimmy is only fully believable as a child if you can’t see him - it reminds me a bit of that horror film ‘orphan’ when he’s on screen tbh) It’s a real shame that only one episode of this show with Mollie Sugden/Danny Ross exists despite there being over 50 episodes broadcast, it’s much better than the other earlier Clitheroe tv show

I think at the time many people advised Jimmy to do TV, for exactly this reason. However my understanding of Jimmy Clitheroe (the actor) he was very motivated by money, just like his character and I suspect they chucked alot of money his way to persuade him to do it.

@@MrADAVideo I can’t say I blame him for transferring the role to television even if it was just for the cash - a lot of successful Radio shows of that era became successful Television shows too (Hancock’s half hour, life with the Lyon’s etc), I guess people just suspended belief that he was a regular normal looking kid and on the smaller television sets it maybe wasn’t as noticeable anyway? Like I said it’s a real shame this is only available episode of the series - always love seeing Mollie Sugden and Danny Ross has a likeable screen presence

Every once in a while I remember this and search out the episodes. It's hard to believe it was 1973 that Jimmy died. I recall stories of people sighting him whilst driving his Jaguar, they used to say he was so small (4ft 2in) he had supported seating to see over the steering wheel when he was driving. Other people claimed they did double takes because he was hardly seen when driving they thought the car driver less. I like these because they are also my earliest recollections of Molly Sugden "Mrs Slocombe.

I met Dudley Sutton in a bookshop in St Just Cornwall. By an amazing coincidence I was looking at a copy of Aldous Huxley's novel the Devils of Loudon. Dudley played the part of the Baron Laubardement in the Ken Russell movie The Devils based on the novel. We chatted for a while and he signed my book. He was very friendly and courteous. Many people don't know that Dudley Sutton was also a very gifted poet.

Decided to look up the cast because I think that's a different girlfriend for Marcus. I am probably wrong who knows but that's not the thing that got me confused. I'm going down the cast list and I realize that all the original cast are only getting credit for 18 episodes. I look at the episodes list and see that there are 40 over 5 series, so with that I am going to binge watch to S3 E5 to see what the heck as that is episode 19.

In my 60+ years the one thing that I have come across that always makes me shake my head, is comments on the internet. This is especially true when it comes to comments on series like this. It's a story, it's made up characters in made up situations, it's not real folks. It reflects the way writers think more than anything else.
