Ah yes the great pillow journey, been there. Here is what I have found that works best for me. I take my puffy jacket and zip it up, then take an inflatable pillow and slide it into the jacket. The pillow is oriented length wise from jacket arm pit to arm pit. Fold the sleeves over the chest, fold the lower half over the top half. Now take that and slide it into a tee shirt, that's your pillow case. If you wear your puffy to bed then this won't work. But it's like having your down filled pillow from home on the trail with you

@@daveebert7747 that’s a really great idea but it wouldn’t work for myself. I do wear my puffy to sleep on colder nights. On top of that, I’m leaning more into simplicity or basically having a one piece item that does it all for me. It’s a balancing act as I’m sure you know lol. Honestly, the Nemo Fillo did the trick for me.

I'm going to give these a try when they're back in stock. My current solution is the Saguaro mesh garden clogs. The positive for them is I can walk around all day in camp with them, they are super comfortable, they've saved me from many stubbed toes, and at 9.6 oz for the pair they're lighter than most sandals and flip-flops (the only thing lighter I've tried is a pair of water socks, but those are only 2 oz lighter). The downside is the bulk in the pack and 9.6 oz is still a lot. These seem like a good alternative especially for trips where my camp time isn't going to be the main attraction. I can always bring along the ole bread bags if I need toe protection in camp and my hiking shoes are wet.

I hope you are enjoying your pack. I have the Arc Haul 50. I went with the 50 because I live in the south and most of my trips are three seasons. The extra room of the 60 would be great for cold weather. I have used my Arc Haul for about two years now. I don’t baby it, but I don’t abuse it either. I’m glad to report that it is holding up great. I have really enjoyed owning this pack. I feel like it was well worth the money.

Brother, it wasn't a failure, as your title suggests. Nobody likes to camp in the cold. I see this trip as a fact finding trip. I bet you learned a few more things about yourselves and dialed in your needs. Not a failure! You did amazing. And also, that's pretty cool, you composed your own music to go with the vid.
@GregsAdventuresAndBeyond
@GregsAdventuresAndBeyond Ай бұрын
@@midlifetravelers6151 thanks so much but the failure was more referring to her backpack. Or the choice we made to switch it up. We tried something new for her hoping it would be better. It was not! Lol. So that’s the failure part. Other than that, it was an awesome trip. We would have stuck it out if not for the pack making her miserable. We actually do love the cold. It provides a challenge that we don’t get to face often and even through the misery of it, the cold itself with the right gear is tolerable. I did learn a few things though, as I always do. Every trip is a learning experience and that’s part of the fun for me! Thank you! And much love my friend!
