Good video. Thanks for taking us through your thought process. Do you consider battery life as an important factor in camera choice? How many lenses do you usually rock on an average outing?
@3goodeyesАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! Battery life can definitely be a huge factor for me depending on what I’m doing. When I go on professional shoots I don’t want to feel limited by my battery or miss shots because I was switching batteries. But I will say that for personal work I don’t really mind switching batteries or plugging my camera into a battery bank while I take a little break. And I’ve found most OEM batteries to have pretty solid battery life. So far my X-Pro3 seems to drain the fastest and my Sony A7IV seems to last the longest.

I have a lot of friends who are stand up comedians, and I've been recording their performances. A couple weeks ago my friend asked me "What's a good cheap camera I can buy to record my stand up?" A friend of hers suggested that if she got a camera then her videos would turn out better. So my first questions was "What's your budget?" It's a really tough question because every venue is totally different, usually the lighting isn't good, and recording sound is going to be really important. I think she was trying to keep it under $200 and I suggested to her honestly she might just be better off continuing to use her phone, or just call me because I have all the gear already. 🤣 But I appreciate your thoughts on some of your favorite go-to cameras. I noticed you hadn't gotten any comments yet so I just wanted to say that your sample images look really good. A lot of them fly by really fast but they're really filmic and cool. 👍

A lot of the photos in this POV were edited with Adrien Sanguinetti's present pack! I love his photography style and his presets are a great starting point for editing. I don't shoot in fully manual unless I want something specific (slower shutter speed, high contrast exposure, etc.). I shoot in aperture priority mode 90% of the time and have for a few years now.

Thank you for an interesting walk around Durham. Many of your shots will be a valuable inspiration to me. I do have a technical question though, if you'll allow me. As we know, the GX85 does not have a stand by mode. Do you use the DISP button to turn off the screen during a photo walk? But then, after all, the autofocus is working all the time. How do you deal with that? And one more question: which autofocus mode is best for you? Thank you and best regards.
@3goodeyes4 ай бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video! I’m glad you liked it. And I don’t mind getting technical at all! I’ve found the battery life on the GX85 to be solid so I don’t turn off the display during photo walks. Sometimes if I know I’m going to take a longer break between photos I’ll just turn the whole camera off since it boots on pretty quickly but yeah I haven’t had any issues with battery life or missing shots from either leaving it on or turning it off intermittently. And for autofocus I’d say 95% of the time I’m in face/eye detect AFS or 49 AFS (I find they work pretty similarly) but whenever I want to spot meter I’ll change the autofocus to match. And very rarely I’ll use manual focus with peaking (I have one ttartisan manual focus lens). Let me know if that helps!
