I must make an objection to your opinion that they should have told Aurora about the curse she was under. I am an avid reader and I absolutely love reading fairy tales, folk tales, and other similar type stories. In my years of reading a common theme that seems to be present in every story is if you tell someone they are under a curse that you ruin any opportunity for them to get out of the curse which leaves them doomed forever, that is they are doomed forever if some helpful mythical creature does not show compassion towards them and provides them with another opportunity to escape from the curse.

The Disney movie was inspired by the Charles Perrault version of the story (which was written before the Grimm version). There is a fairy godmother and glass slippers in that version. The stepsisters have a much happier ending in the Charles Perrault version, Cinderella forgives her two stepsisters and marries them off to two wealthy noblemen of the court.

Fun fact... Disney was inspired by the Charles Perrault version of Sleeping Beauty. That's why the movie is very different from Sun, Moon, and Talia. In Perrault's tale, the prince does not kiss the princess to wake her up. The prince is so struck by the radiant beauty before him that he falls on his knees before her. They still end up having twins, but the Queen who wants to eat the children is the prince's mother not his wife.
