Section with the up 2gates then back for the down river gate seems abit weird.
@jasonkayaker6 ай бұрын
We ballsed it up. Exited the upstream gate and forgot to do a high cross to the far downstream gate, so had to gather it up and improvise. I don't mind an unusual course design, we made that section look less elegant than it really was.

A great summary. All skills that need regular practice too. Thanks for sharing.

The practice thing...so true. We'll be trying to work it into our club sessions. Could've done that this evening, but we had a great surf wave. Too much fun to be had!

Really nice to see you flying the flag for C2. Not an easy kayak to work with and you made it look smooth.

Yeah, it takes some shifting about. Was shallower on the Sunday, that was tougher. Cheers.

I'll never forget being held in it....whilst taileeing....whilst facing upstream. None of it made sense. Such a cool feeling.

Nice wave. GREAT boat. My trick for using other boats is to make urself some inflatable hip blocks out of locksmiths air bags...(for cracking car doors open enough to break into cars)...and make some velcro straps for them. Then you can jumo into any boat pump up the hip blocks to suit and ur locked in to every boat. Cheap, simple and works.

Interesting idea, I'll look into that. Cheers.

Great video, thanks, ive only done the intro to WW at LV just this autumn and hoping to do the "developing" when it warms up again (lol). I am sure I have come across some of your videos at LV, i think (i have watched many LV vids), ya don't really forget the name , Proteus. Anyhoo, just wondering, do you guys request or have control of the sluice gate or is it just a hit an hope?
@jasonkayaker Жыл бұрын
Thanks very much. Yeah, I've done some LV videos, my Legacy and Olympic assessments and my first time on Olympic on my own (gulp) We don't have control of the sluice unfortunately, it's hit and hope. It varies a great deal, as you can imagine. I suppose that's a good thing in many ways. Every time we turn up, we never quite know what we're going to get. And the excitement when it's raging in just the right way...wonderful. Merry Christmas!

Thanks Tony, glad you enjoyed it. We reminisce about that day once in a while. I have one regret...I intended to paddle to the island in the loch in an island in the Loch but would've been a bugger of a portage due to the terrain. I expect I'll regret that for a looong time.

@@jasonkayaker Lol. It’s all good. We Yanks have a special place in our hearts for you Brits. ❤️ You’re just different enough to feel a bit foreign and exotic. But we speak your language (kind of). And our culture spun off from yours, so even though you’re a bit foreign and exotic to us, at the same time you’re similar enough to feel familiar and that’s comforting somehow. 😂

Kept hearing The Boatman by The Levellers in my head whilst watching this. It all looks very serene and tranquil. Do the septic tanks really say 'tidbits'? 🤔
@jasonkayaker Жыл бұрын
Hey man. Had The Levellers on at the river the other day, they fit so well with the vibe, I agree. It was a very chilled day, blissed out. They do say 'tidbits' but I'm wrong about the reason, its apparently not because they can't bear to say tit! 2 minutes Googling tells me that they're right and we're wrong! Original English was 'tyd bit'. I'm sticking with the tit though, cos, well...tits.
@tomtoshack Жыл бұрын
@jasonkayaker I'll give the Americans that on this occasion. There is no excuse for using the word Soccer, though. Unless, of course, it's International Superstar Soccer.
@tomtoshack Жыл бұрын
Google tells me the word 'soccer' is actually a British export. That has to be a lie. Hang on, Google is American, right?
@jasonkayaker Жыл бұрын
@@tomtoshack Yeah, it's from 'soc' which is from association football, right? But, I see your point! I don't know what's more ridiculous...that we now rightly feel a deep sense of mistrust in anything we read... ...or that we historically used to think we could trust what we read!
@dazfrombramley Жыл бұрын
Really helpful and its nice to see that they're not looking for perfection. Some of my fellow club members are embarking on the assements themselves and stressing themselves over these - and they are very good WW kayakers/payboaters
@jasonkayaker Жыл бұрын
Nowhere near perfection. They just wanna make sure you're not a hazard or completely out of your depth, I think. And, actually, the course isn't that difficult.
