Linford never deserved that type of treatment. The greatest British 100m runner.

I’m trying to watch this on HBO but I don’t know if I can continue. The three dads are so cruel to their kids!! Basketball Dad should have been thrown out of the gym. Golf Dad seemed to forget he was dealing with a 10yo ffs. And Football Dad …. well, there’s “strict” and there’s “abuse”. He’s way over the line into abuse 😮 😠

Linford Christie is my cousin and it’s actually crazy how it is to have a famous person in ur family
@bobbysfacts19813 ай бұрын
These parents probably made these kids hate sports. Especially the football and basketball dads. Sports are supposed to be fun.

@nickrizzo46353 ай бұрын
I am all for being tough on kids. If they want to play, and want to win, you gotta understand what it takes. But you also want the kid to still enjoy playing the game. I’ll never insult or berate and ramble on just harping on my girl’s son when we work on football But he knows that I’m just trying to help him be the best he can. And one thing you almost never hear from these types of parents? A compliment when they do something right.

I don’t know who the worse parent is, the football dad or the golf dad. The basketball dad is over the top and way too involved but at least he’s not threatening violence to his kids. Props to the tennis mom for being calm and raising two great players.

Justus’ dad is a complete psychopath. He needs to be a drill instructor because he clearly missed out on being an asshole 24/7 to everyone he’s ever met. I feel for his son.

I believe Brad. The athletes themselves are busy training and racing - the docs and admin people are meant to be doing their jobs properly too. Similar scandal in AFL a few years later which wasn't the players fault.

These three dad's are off my guy. These dad's are terrible parents. Overbearing, abusive, toxic, unable to communicate, and have absolutely no idea how to build confidence and self-efficacy within their child. Absolutely atrocious. I hope these kiddos are doing good cause to get out of that household and be good on your own with no issues is gonna be a freaking struggle for these kiddos. Wishing all the best for these kiddos man.

Watching the football coach dad yelling at his son brought me right back to my baseball practice. My dad was actually one of the more level headed coaches on the team but there was this one coach who spoke to me exactly the same way. Parents like him are disgusting people who take their anger out on their vulnerable children and convince themselves that its “because they love them”. They don’t love their kids, rather they love the fact that they get to be in charge of someone. Fuck that guy.

Linford Christie = the best European 100m runner in history. I would've loved to be reminded about how Christie dealt with the disappointment of not medalling at the World Championships in 1991 when Dennis Mitchell beat him by 1/100 of a second for bronze (after Mitchell had reacted to the gun in 9/100 of a second: today that would've been a false start, but back then the starter didn't see any "flyver" from Mitchell); and Christie setting his second European record, 9.92 seconds (after the first, 9.97 s, in 1988)...

I cannot remember an era that compared to that era of running and boxing. Linford was an integral part of that and rightly is celebrated. I wish him and all those amazing runners at the time the very best

Linford is special. To have competed against those incredibly gifted Americans was something else. I think so many were envious. They tried to tarnish his name and maybe to some extent succeeded. But Linford already won the hearts of a nation and fans around the world. Looking back he was quite spectacular as was that era. They all were amazing and that is what made Linfords success all the more special.
