The DC-9 family will always be the fighter jet of commercial airliners. Not only can they sound like them, but they sure do take off like fighters and space shuttles.

The DC-9’s & 727’s had even more of a kick to them. You were thrown into your seat when those throttles opened up

I always remember my flights on Northwest. I just now realized that’s so long ago that KZbin comments were structured entirely different. 😆 I always say it under these videos, but I miss seeing that silver & red at DTW. I’ll never forget the sounds of those DC-9s!

They were flying to KLRD from Willow. From KLRD it made another stop before it flew to ANC

Yes it is. USA Jet Airlines operated both as well. Unfortunately, they retired their DC-9’s a couple of years ago. USA Jet still fly their MD-88’s, MD-83 & 727’s 🤙

Great stuff as usual!! I love it, the first B717, N929AT I flew on from ORD to DTW in April 2019. And the last B717 that you got, N977AT is the one that I am chomping at the bit to fly on!!!

Yes it sure does! I love getting certain shots at night but it’s hard to film in the dark. I always fear losing focus on a takeoff or landing at night. It’s happened to me before and ruined the footage! I’m glad you enjoyed the video, thank you!

I miss this airplane and this airline, dearly. I grew up with the “bowling shoe” Northwest days here at MSP Airport. After Delta came along and completely destroyed Northwest, that’s when things turned for the worst. It hasn’t been the same sense and it’s really sad.

Man, these were beautiful silver birds! Really makes me miss AA's classic livery, too. I flew onboard AA's Super 80 N580AA on it's final revenue flight (KLBB-KDFW), back in September 2019.
