Hi Gareth, what an amazing collection mate. Looks like a bumper season ahead. Mulberry in Urdu (Pakistan's national language) is called "Shahtoot". I grew up eating both white (long ones) and black vartieties. The white variety can grow into a huge tree.

Love the growth of the garden. What’s the size of your block is it 1-1.5acres? I’m in a suburban block atm and looking for some acreage as I have more trees I want to grow. I don’t think I need much more than your sized block.

I'm liking the idea of using the bathtub mate, as for the ants I use food grade DE to keep ants away from my pets food bowls and I also use it in my garden as an ant deterrent. Where I am in Hervey Bay the ants have been a huge problem for us, even in the house. I purchased this pet feeder stand that you can put DE on each feet and it' keeps all the ants away. So read up more on DE and as long as it's Food Grade it's safe for us and our pets and great for use in the garden. Cheers Kat.

Cocao don't like full sun Gareth, even when they are quite big. We are getting a bit of a drenching down here as well, and it bodes well for spring growth.

I'm also trying to reduce using any external fertilizers. Currently have 6 chooks so their (fresh) droppings are being used for a bit older trees. Otherwise I just use a liquid fish poo fertilizer to boost growth. For ants, I've found borax + sugar or yogurt to be very affective. They take the mixture back to their nests and spread around.

Have you considered digging up the seedling jab and replacing it with a named variety? That seedling one is taking up prime real estate I reckon. I dug up and then potted up one of my seedling jabs until I found a spot I didn't mind 'wasting' on a tree that may not fruit for years (chook pen).

From what I've seen on Georges and other banana growers videos, once the first bananas start to turn yellow, the rest will also ripen if you remove the whole bunch and I'm guessing it cuts down on splitting and ants and other pests ?

Audio/video quality is fantastic on DJI. Well done. Your previous videos were quite shaky. I thought you were recording with a phone. What a beautiful property. Love the calm and openness. Great banana collection. For us in Sydney, bananas have already stopped growing because night temps are now in single digits. I'd need to do a video of my banana collection as well. Now that I'm thinking, probably I have 10 different varities growing in 1/8 of an acre 🤭
