Nice garden I appreciate a tidy and ornamental food forest backyard. Not to judge but I’m gonna judge lol a lot of the food forests I see on here on KZbin are so messy and chaotic

Definitely incorporating smaller plants in my tree pots, what a great idea. I’ll definitely be putting a few plants in my pots along with my fruit trees to optimize my space. Great vid!

I grew it from seed, it actually came up from my compost after I dumped some Publix blackberries from Mexico that had gone bad into my compost, a few days later, I noticed the blackberry plants growing… that was three years ago. I’ve tried to find out what variety it is because it’s definitely a warm climate variety, but they are very thorny. Very productive in our native soil as well (~200 blackberries this year so far from a single plant). I have some sprouts that pop up if you’d like them, I don’t mind selling them.

Thank you SO MUCH for all your help, Carlos. Dealing with the challenges of gardening in South florida has not been easy, (coming from MD, where I had a lush garden) - but you have been so generous with your time, advice and help. I can’t thank you enough 🙏🏼

I have been able to do air layering before but it takes 2-3 months. They grow well from seed but takes about 3 years to get any fruit, around 5-6 years you start to get good harvest.

I live in west palm beach and new to gardening… i am having very hard time growing tomatoes and peppers without blossom end rot. I have adjusted the watering and also have purchased blossom end rot spray but it really doesnt help much. Is there something special you use in fertilizer or soil for south florida?
@fernandezfarm2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessenia, I have found the biggest things to be timing, mulch, soil and watering. Mainly for pest control I use a sticky yellow fly paper which attracts the fruit flys and white flys mostly. Tomatoes here are a winter crop so now is the time to plant seeds then as it cools down transplant to their planters. I like to use a large pot at least 7 gallon per plant, and a high quality soil like miracle grow (this helps avoid issue like root knot nematodes). As for fertilizer Tomatotone works great and is natural.

Looks good. I see the Malaysian Red Guava in the background... waiting on your White Guava air-layer to take root. Definitely would like some pitaya cuttings!

Interesting garden. You grow plural season mango. Perhaps custard apple will bloom soon. I used to grow fruit trees in pots when I was in Japan. Now I live in Thailand, and grow tropical fruits again.🔔👍

Thank you, Yes I grow plural season mangos: Glenn will be ready in April and June second crop, Rosigold will be ready in May and second crop by July, Angie and Valencia Pride will be around June/July. I can’t wait till the custard apple blooms as well… I will definitely post when it does 👍

You have a great variety, nice. One thing, citrus trees don't like anything growing next to their trunk over root area. Pull everything out of the pots with them, give them good healthy mulch a little citrus fertilizer, lots of sun. Painting the grow pots white, light gray, will help keep the sun from baking the roots. Happy gardening.
