I actually don't get to go back to China often at all 😓😓 I have a bunch of China vlogs from before my PhD that I am still editing and posting when I get the chance 😔 if the video is on my china study abroad playlist, then it's from before my phd lol. I am hoping to go back this year though!!

Yeah CS compared to aerospace engineering is way easier. Aerospace yur dealing with physics and mathmatics and chemistry. Where as CS your dealing with math and CS subjects unless you have other disciplines attached

Heya!!! One question, I have a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and I have the option of choosing masters in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. What you think would be beneficial. What's your perspective on this? I would love to hear from you. I'm in a dilemma. Both the programs are good with few misses. As always, love your videos.
@riverxiaoking2 ай бұрын
Hi! What industry do you want to go into? If you're looking to work in the aerospace industry, I would pick doing an aero MS. If you're trying to stay in the more generalized/product-focused engineering fields, then I would pick the mechE MS. Of course, even if you pick the aero MS, you can definitely still work in other engineering fields and vice versa, but it would just be a more circuitous route. Also, what's you're funding/scholarship, location, etc. situation? If they're drastically different between both programs, I would consider that as well! Thanks for watching my videos!! Means a lot to me :)
@subhanbasha88132 ай бұрын
@@riverxiaoking I'd like to keep my options wide open on industry. Yep, that's what I'm thinking. Aerospace does make indirect way with Mechanical on many industries. Now with all the Energy transition phase, I'm thinking to get into Fluid Dynamics and Heat/Mass transfer which in one way or the other does impact with others such as - Energy, Bio Engineering and Space etc. (As you know). I'm mainly choosing funded programs but with these high cost of living and tuition fees makes me to sit at home and do self study. Mind telling me what are you working on? I appreciate and thank you for your time.
@riverxiaoking2 ай бұрын
If you have the option of doing a funded program, I would heavily consider that choice. Or if you can do an in-state program, or a public university, you can lower your tuition significantly that way too. I think self-study could be a good option if you already have a job you like that doesn't really require the additional degree, or if you can get the job you want without the masters. If the job you want to go for requires you to have your masters, then you would need to consider pursuing that. Also, some companies will also pay for your masters, so that could be a good option too! I am an aerospace engineer and have gone the satellite/space track :)
@subhanbasha88132 ай бұрын
@@riverxiaokingHi, Yep, thinking exactly the same. By the way, you working? I mean you're an Aero grad student and I believe working with your professor for publications? Don't know how you guys work out with writing , publishing , attending conferences , teaching some classes , 3 - 5 years of commitment and most importantly studying. Keep the heads up. I don't know if I can help you in anyway, you're not short on help. But the important aspect I kept ignoring is that health and sleep during my studies. I really really really wish you the very best. As earlier, I will always love watching your videos.
@riverxiaoking2 ай бұрын
Yep, I am pretty bad at taking care of my health and sleep tbh so I'm trying really hard to work on that. I'm thinking of doing a "going to bed at 10 pm challenge" or something like that bc right now I sleep so late every day

such a great vlog! It made me miss California so much (I currently live in NYC bc I'm doing my PhD but lived in The Bay (SF/Oakland) for a decade and grew up in SoCal). Also, I totally felt that talk you had about outfits and how women are perceived in male-dominated spaces. My field is much more female oriented but for some reason, the opinions of men are still overvalued. I learned to just be myself and that not everyone will think I belong but as long as I KNOW that I belong, that's all that matters! <3

I'm new to Cali since coming here for grad school, and I love it here. But NYC is so fun too! Yeah, I'm trying really hard to stay true to myself while being in this field. And I totally feel you on their opinions being overvalued, even in female-dominated fields :/
