In addition to Sills's legendary vocal and dramatic characterization of Elizabeth, there are also outstanding performances by John Alexander(as Robert) and Richard Fredericks (as the Duke).

Marsee and Fredericks are outstanding. They sang the roles of Sarah and Nottingham opposite Beverly Sills's Elizabeth.

Exceptionally moving version! Makes me want to pull out my old LP set of the entire revue!

We either don't have this caliber of singers anymore, or, we don't have directors/companies that will take the chance of not always casting our "popular" singers of the day! Sills had the discipline and the desire to sing this role. Too big for her? Maybe. Who's to say? She was a fierce artist and took the chance!

Can you post the rest of the album? Love hearing the orchestrations cut from the OBC!

This magnificent ensemble is brilliantly brought to life by the powerful singing of John Alexander in the title role, Richard Fredericks as the Duke, and last but not least, Beverly Sills as Queen Elizabeth.

Lyrics-- I expect everyone of my crowd to make fun Of my proud protestations of faith in romance, And they'll say I'm naïve as a babe to believe Every fable I hear from a person in pants. Fearlessly I'll face them and argue their doubts away, Loudly I'll sing about flowers in spring, Flatly I'll stand on my little flat feet and say Love is a grand and a beautiful thing! I'm not ashamed to reveal The world famous feelin' I feel. I'm as corny as Kansas in August, I'm as normal as blueberry pie. No more a smart little girl with no heart, I have found me a wonderful guy! I am in a conventional dither, With a conventional star in my eye. And you will note there's a lump in my throat When I speak of that wonderful guy! I'm as trite and as gay as a daisy in May, A cliché comin' true! I'm bromidic and bright As a moon-happy night Pourin' light on the dew! I'm as corny as Kansas in August, High as a flag on the Fourth of July! If you'll excuse an expression I use, I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love with a wonderful guy! I'm as trite and as gay as a daisy in May, A cliché comin' true! I'm bromidic and bright As a moon-happy night Pourin' light on the dew! Girls I'm as corny as Kansas in August, High as a flag on the Fourth of July! Nellie: If you'll excuse an expression I use, I'm in love, Girls I'm in love, Nellie: I'm in love, Girls I'm in love, Nellie: I'm in love, Girls I'm in love, Nellie: I'm in love, Girls I'm in love, Nellie: I'm in love, Girls I'm in love, Nellie: I'm in love, Girls I'm in love, Nellie and Girls I'm in love with a wonderful guy!

Para mí es el gran papel de Beverly Sills. Explaya todo su poderío belcantista mas dramático, demostrando que además de una bellísima y extensa voz de registro, fue una actriz de primera.

HAUNTING song and performance! Wish I had seen this show. (Notice the sort of "James Bond" theme in the accompaniment?) Watters "Johnny's Song" is excellent too.

I teach this version to my voice students. When I sing this song, I literally COPY Hal as if it’s the voice of Weill himself. I’m an opera tenor, but no tenor can touch this, including ME!

"Marvelous, understated, believable delivery and colloquially accurate singing without "giving up" proper classical vocal production, a great singer-actor I had never heard before a Texas Mezzo named DAYNA sent me this video August 17, 2019 at a time when Fredricks is teaching Voice in Los Angeles: BRAVO RICHARD!"
