One question I've been pondering since 2013 is why older creations seemed to have more soul. This isn't nostalgia speaking; rather, I observe that after 2007, we transitioned into an era where creativity appears to operate at half its potential rather than 100%. It feels as though people began standardizing their work excessively to appeal to the widest possible audience. However, aiming to please everyone often results in pleasing no one deeply. This might explain why modern creations, whether video games, machine sounds, or even logos, lack the profound emotional resonance they once had. They seem to miss that intangible essence-a true sense of 'soul.' I believe that in the past, the world of technology, science, and related fields resonated more with a niche audience, particularly dedicated nerds, and even alternative subcultures within the nerd community had their voices heard. Today, however, things have become excessively standardized. This shift towards mass appeal has diluted the unique perspectives and innovative edge that these niche communities once brought to the table, ultimately compromising the depth and authenticity of technological and scientific advancements.

I would say making money has always been a factor but nowadays it is everything to the big gaming corporations & sadly creativity is often pushed aside in order to chase every monitisation avenue possible! That's why indy games seem to have more mass appeal than these triple a games nowadays as they still have their creative spark :D Which is what retro games always tended to have :D Plus it was a lot cheaper to make games & you had to get it working on day one & not patch it consistently over the next few years! Leading to better made games haha 😆

Whenever I activate cheats for a game using the Xplorer FX I can't save my game. Any ideas why?

You should be able to :) As the cheats don't normally interfere with a PS1 game save :) That's so odd if it did. Maybe check if you have space on your memory card. Also, thank you so much for the sub 🙂

This game is impossible! Third race on the 1st tournament, that is the most I've achieved. The rest of series are great however.
