I just saw a Video where a preacher would countdown his Finger for every Word from the first verse The lord is my shepherd. And then Grab his Ringfinger to show He is MY shepherd and i belonge to Jesus.I think thats a cool idea to always remind ourselve that we belonge to Jesus.

I've spent the past few months evaluating theological colleges, 4 reflecting a spectrum of denominational traditions. Interviewed dozens of theological lecturers, researchers, students and grads. Watching this is brilliant, equally encouraging, and gives me hope. Christendom is concluding, better - less entangled - reflections of the Christ centred gospel are breaking through all over the world. Flourish!

Hi, I'm the person in the clip. The trouble with these shorts is that they sometimes lose the context; it probably makes more sense if you listen to the whole thing. But broadly, the point is that sometimes human beings do tip over into being 'animalistic' in the negative sense (using the metaphor of the story) - e.g. in anger, cruelty, violence, oppression, etc.; we become predators. That's not (we believe) what God wants, and it's not the pattern of life Christ models. Sorry if that wasn't clear!

@@biblesociety nope, the Bible is a pretty fascistic text att the macro level, hidden behind cherry picking the nice stories when you're indoctrinating the little lambs. So much theft from previous cultures too before you came up with the idea of mono theism. But you do you. Maybe become more humane and give up this bronze age barbarism

If w loved by the teachings of what is truly in the Bible, we'd be in prison, think on that truly and repent (to yourself because you can't say in a court of law God made me do it)

You should suffer your own consequences for your sins, no? It’s not right to think you can sin and will/should be forgiven…
@biblesociety

That’s a good question! (Apologies for the long answer incoming ...) A great place to go in the Bible to explore this is in Romans chapters 3, 5 and 6. Chapter 3 talks about the problem we have - we’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (verse 23). And you’re right! That being the case, we do deserve to suffer the consequences of our sin. HOWEVER, this is where the beauty of the gospel comes in. Instead of leaving us in a hopeless state of being condemned because of what we’ve done, powerless to make things right in our own strength, God loves us and shows us incredible mercy to redeem and restore us instead. John 3.16 says, ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ Romans 5.6-8 expands on this further by saying that Jesus Christ has died in our place, meaning God’s justice has been satisfied by Jesus and we no longer face the death penalty for our sin. Perhaps the idea that Jesus took our place doesn’t sit well with you either? Isn’t that unfair for him? But the Gospel accounts make it clear that Jesus came for this purpose, out of love for us, and willingly took our place. It’s a gift of grace we don’t deserve and yet he did it. That feeling that we shouldn’t be complacent about God’s mercy and forgiveness is absolutely spot on though. The beginning of Romans chapter 6 looks at this and reminds us of the cost to Jesus Christ of dying in our place and reminds us that if we have a new life in him, how can we go on living as though we’re dead in our sins?

I have a question. Why would Jesus read and memorize the bible? Didn't He already know what the bible says? And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
@biblesociety

As Jesus lived fully as a human, he would have also experienced life as any Jewish person of his time, which included reading, studying and memorising Scripture. Additionally, by engaging with the Scriptures, Jesus modelled for others how important it is to study and live according to God's word. While he was 'the word made flesh,' his actions often served as a perfect example of how to live faithfully.

It depends on what you're putting in your head day and night day and night the daily washing of the water of the word you can watch all kinds of media and everything you want to but you need to kind of balance that out by listening to the word of God listen to the book of Genesis listen to The book of John and make sure that you balance that stuff out with everything you do and do not cast away your confidence and always remember that David encouraged himself in the Lord try to tell yourself and meditate on who Jesus really is and that is not being smart Alec whatsoever it's because I know exactly where you are I've been there and I'm there a lot still I love you sweetheart listen to my advice I'm old enough to be your grandpa listen to what I just told you😊

Stoicism shows you can get your peace by yourself . And also stoicism is not about becoming indifferent to the exterior and also, it is not a religion , and it is in no way incompatible with christisnity or other religions.

A common issue I’ve seen in many, many, as I’ve relocated for work several times, has been 20% doing 80% of the work. -Then the remaining 80% want it done differently. Or, particular people exhibiting an inordinate influence (control) on decisions, and the board being hostage to the politics, rather than just seeking God’s wisdom. We are truly fallen people apart from God.
