Great tune and playing. The art form of post-bop jazz was perfected by Miles, Herbie, Coltrane, Wayne, McCoy, Ron, Tony, Elvin, and other players in the Sixties. My opinion.

Hello Mr. LaVerne. I'm enjoying this video, and your musical journey. I'm now thinking...it's a good thing that you got up the nerve to say something to Bill Evans that day at the table next to you. The rest of history, as they say. 🙂

I purchased this DVD ... such great performances from both players. I wish the written music, or rather the lead sheets they're working from were available. Just to check out how these guys think about composition and structure. I know I'd buy a copy! Even try to learn a piece or two. P.S. I like the guitar John chose for this recording; It's a Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion III. It's the only time I've seen him play this instrument. Also caught glimpses of it in the film "Open Land - Meeting John Abercrombie".

I love it, Andy! What a fantastic film by J. H Greenwell into a fascinating musical life. As a student of Andy's for the last nine years, I can honestly say that Andy has been my greatest influence and just a great friend. We have explored and will continue to explore countless avenues of jazz creativity together. When I can, I enjoy sharing parts of a lesson with my instrumental music students. As a music teacher, I aways look at a new lesson with Andy as a new door being opened and many others revisited. Andy's vast and very personal jazz history weaves in and out of our conversations throughout our lessons. "He always inspires me." (Thank you, Chick Corea).

Definitely very UNDERRATED in my top five greatest jazz pianists of all time!! 🧐☺️. He is my biggest influence along with Art, Oscar, Bill and Chick! Yes he was my first exposure to try and understand the Evans style. My own style owes a lot and great gratitude to him. Andy if you’re reading this sir, please respond I will pay for you to come to Dallas Tx and give a masterclass! Please consider it sir!! Peace Love and blessings’

Chaque note , lui traverse le corps, interaction musique et sensation. C était du john abercrombie, , les nouveaux guitaristes vont s inspiré de ça. J espère.
One of my favorite performances by so many incredible musicians and wishing that I would've attended! I have been a student of Andy's since 2014 and, as a professional musician and educator, I consider him my greatest mentor! If you are thinking of taking a lesson with him, it is invaluable in so many ways. I have learned more about jazz and what it means to play jazz through him than I have found in any book or video (that being said, there are many great books and videos out there-but he can give you invaluable insight on how to more effectively use them). Well worth it always! Our conversations alone are always enlightening.

Canco del Sol? the opener. That beautiful unique sound of Mr Getz that nobody else has ever approached - or ever will. This must have been the concert tour where he was joined by the wonderful Bob Brookmeyer on valve trombone?. I have a Polish LP of one of the concerts.(Muza label with a PAPER cover!)

Hey Andy! Thank you for this great clip. I have been studying with Andy since 2014. Every lesson is in many ways a new musical journey that is intertwined with fascinating anecdotal history and personal stories as well as usefully applicable harmonic, melodic and rhythmic devices...to name just a few. As a music educator myself, I highly recommend taking a lesson with Andy if you are thinking about it.
