So, after the switch, which do you prefer the most? Have you had any reliability issues with the turbo setup? What is your fuel economy like? I'd like to think much improved for daily driving. I understand it would be hard to not drive it hard most of the time now with all of the extra power.@@johnr53john

@@anthonyblevins6588 off boost it’s using half the fuel the TVS was using on the daily commute. Trouble is it’s rather difficult to stay out of the boost .. I held onto all the SC parts for about a month after going turbo before getting rid of them. No regrets about that. I’ve had a few issues with the kit however it’s the 3rd car that this particular sidewinder kit has been on over 7/8 years so I was expecting some issues. The pro alloy coolant rad needed replacing and a few lines replacing but other than that the kits worked beautifully. It’s just the 20 yr old mini it’s bolted too that’s being a pain 😅

How did this go for you? I have stock ECU, with bytetronik and tuner requires Innovate AFR gauge (had an AEM that was great). I wired mine right to the battery on my R53 and switched it on with a relay and still get E9 during cranking. I think its just a garbage setup. I've been through 3 sensors, too.
@johnr53john
@johnr53john Жыл бұрын
In the end I went to the link can lambda. I know a lot of the guys had much better luck with the AEM afr gauge then the innovate one which did seem to just be a bit useless. I would ask your tuner to just use the AEM gauge

I have an r53 mini that I’m thinking about racing. How’s the track reliability been? Curious about how many miles on the car and what mods to go along with the TVS900.
@johnr53john
@johnr53john Жыл бұрын
It’s my daily car this one, I’m doing about 300 miles a week with it on the TVS. I’ve had a electric water pump fail but I’m not too sad about that as it wasn’t new when I fitted it so it’s done well. Quite a few other mods on mine, BVH, Catcam469, Link G4X, Wiseco pistons, ARP rod bolts and head studs etc. I can literally do the school run, rock up to Brands and throw it around and then go to Tesco on the way home 😅
@The_Casual_Nerd

@@johnr53john awesome!! Thanks for the info. You think for occasional track reliability, internals would be required?
@johnr53john
@johnr53john Жыл бұрын
@@The_Casual_Nerd for the sake of dropping the sump and throwing in new rod bearings and arp rod bolts you’ll be good for a bottom end that will see 350whp just fine. Top end will benefit nicely from a 469catcam, 550 injectors and a tune. Although then it’s the same old of adding a reduced pulley first and decent air box and manifold/exhaust etc before and tuning for it all
@The_Casual_Nerd
@The_Casual_Nerd Жыл бұрын
@@johnr53john good advice thanks man. Yeah agreed I think rod bearings would help. Mines got 114k on it now with tons of maintenance records with it. But it’s modded and tuned. Feels quick but I’m worried about it. I don’t love buying new cars built and tuned by others

Yea mine is alot higher idle with my 469 and its tinned by 1320 Mini. Considering removing it as the car cant sit at lights or in traffic without getting very hot. Cant daily it anymore only use it for track days. Possibly going to remove it or even sell the car in the near future anway rather than removing mods. Enjoy!
