Lovely video. Could I ask - Are the locations at 0:00, 3:43, 7:04 and 8:55 publicly accessible or on private land? Many thanks.

It'll be a shame see those iconic 60's era railcars finally bow out. I thought they'd go on forever.

On my sole visit to the IOM in the early 70s, the Groudle Glen Railway was shut down, so I didn't know much about the line. No passengers, so was this a photographic charter? Lots of shutter clicks in the background. With such tight curves, perhaps bogie coaches would be better for visitors than the 4-wheelers as it was almost like listening to a Pacer with the flange squeal. The asthmatic whistle could do with a bit of tuning, but it looks a nice line with the views over the sea. The trackbed seems in very good order and is tidy- better than many heritage lines.

It is still open regularly so if you went back you could ride it. This was a photo charter on the line. The event was primarily for photographers, so it was not really possible to get away from clicks or the occasional taking. Only one or two others were doing video

which track gauge in mm ?
@RRChessie Жыл бұрын
1067 mm which is the standard for Japan Railways except for the Shinkansen and a few private railways which use standard.
@The0070049 Жыл бұрын
@@RRChessie thanks for the answer - I was principally curious because of the huge difference in track gauge between this and North America or Continental Asia(esp. Russia/China) for example. There are many quite short/small containers (with JR signs) - not compatible with TEU and such? I wonder how/if this works - regarding the global supply chain nautical-rail-street. Regarding "comparable" swiss narrow gauge freight traffic - I can just remember these Coop-Containers on RhB - visible on YT-videos. I wonder, if they are able to roll on the whole network - regarding the amount of tunnels - loading gauge ...
