In this case, it's best to contact Straighttalk's support, some of their devices would require you to contact them to unlock it. (Some devices might not give you an option to enter a code in and needs to be remotely unlocked via their servers.)

As long as the phone prompts for a network unlock code after inserting a sim card from another carrier, we should be able to unlock it.

Adding and setting up an eSim is similar to just inserting a card into your phone. Regarding the phone number, if it's set up and active on the sim, you'd have to contact your service providers regarding that.

It depends if your number is on the associated eSim already or not. If you're not too sure, it's best to contact your service providers in this case and have them verify the phone number that's registered on the eSim.

You can check by inserting a sim card from another carrier. The moment you try to use another carrier, the phone will tell you if it's locked or not. If no message appears, it usually means it's unlocked.
