My daughter made an apartment in our barn. She bought that subflooring and cut it into squares, sanded them to sand off the paint markings, installed and varnished the floor. It is 15 years later and they still look great. The industrial touch.

do you guys ever get condensation between the first layer of reflective skin and the PVC cover. In my dome, whenever I run the wood stove, entire PVC skin behind the liner gets super wet due to condensation, scared that it would cause mold issues in the future
@NaturesNear13 күн бұрын
We have a dehumidifier that runs constantly, and it's plumbed through the floor. Only during really cold temperatures we will get a few trips around our window. However, the sun beats on it and dries it out over a few hours. We also opted not to do a stove and have a mini split, which keeps it super regulated. I think it's the difference in hot and cold temperatures that causes it to be really soaked. I will also have my husband add to this 😁 if you watch our videos he's the brains lol.

Hey guys, having recently done some driveway and parking lot repairs I think you can rent a roller/vibrator that will flatten the driveway very nicely. In fact we are also building a small tiny house community and I may be attempting my own driveway install as well.
@NaturesNear12 күн бұрын
Good luck 👍 I love working with my husband and though this task was bearable, it was the hottest and hardest thing we have done on this property. We thought about renting a roller but just like saving money especially since this is not a long stretch and after a few weeks of driving and having guest it has smooth out on its own, for the most part atleast 😁

Really love your husband‘s humility and the fact that you supported him and didn’t let him feel too bad about a small mistake. Those are the kinds of things that us men need. I’m glad I have a wife who’s like that too.

I'm happy for you as well 😇 sometimes we wives need to give some grace, especially when our husbands are working hard. He does what I'm unable and unwilling to do, I dare not tear him down for his efforts. He tries so hard and my heart breaks for him when he has to redo a task or repurchase materials. ❤️🩹

I love these detailed "stupid challenge we had to figure out a solution to" videos. It highlights the ingenuity and creativity needed when things dont go exactly to plan. And I can fully sympathize with how nerve wracking it is modifying something very expensive in the middle of a project ("there's no going back once we bend/break/cut this thing..." I'm really happy it worked out well and everything came together. Great decision on the door swap.

Oh we had so much fun 😆 these are truly the moments you see what you are made of. Tested and tried the human brain is a force when on a mission. I would have loved to save the money and time but this just worked out so much better. I bet our guess feels a little more secure and at home with this familiar touch. Thank you so much for the encouragement. KZbin is not as forgiving as you are most people expect perfection when we're clearly out here just winging it. 🤣
@NewStateHospitality2 ай бұрын
@NaturesNear that makes me feel a lot better. I'm about to start my own "winging it" glamping project once my wife finishes her PhD program, and despite all the research and preparation, I am honestly terrified about jumping in. And this is coming from someone with 25 years of professional experience who owns his own company in a different industry. The two of you are doing awesome!

What I really want to know is where is the wiring going? How will they be turning the chandelier off and on?
@NaturesNear2 ай бұрын
There is electrical conduit running in the walls inbetween the shell and the double insulation kit. This is wired and inspected like any other adu unit with an electrical panel box, with lights switches, gfi etc.

What type of dome and size did you buy and would you buy the same kind again? Thanks!!!
@NaturesNear3 ай бұрын
We have a 6m dome roughly 20ft from @trudomes and we would absolutely be purchasing again. We dis have to make some minor adjustments as you will see in some videos to make it work for our design but no other dome compared. We actually traveled to the glamping USA show and toured them all it was really helpful seeing them up close and personal. There are a few other companies that were in our running like Pacific domes and fdomes but @trudomes entire set up was top tier.
@airbnbgirllaura3 ай бұрын
Thankfully, everyone's prayers got answered and your dome (and livelihood) and guests are ok. You all did a great job building a weather resistant property. It goes to show you that the time and expense it takes to build something properly is worth it.
@NaturesNear3 ай бұрын
Thank you, Laura. We most definitely saw the difference in our properties resilience compared to some industry friends in the area. While we know we are truly blessed and extremely lucky, our hearts go out to glamping owners who had to shut down. I'm not saying their build was not good. I'm just realizing that thinking of EVERY detail beforehand is so necessary. For instance, I remember getting upset with Eric about the placement of the dome. That man went down the line with me about every possible thing that can impact up wind, trees, and even flooding. Even when putting in our roads, I did not want those guard rails but again, it helps with downpours and allows for water breaks. Even the gravel under and around the deck was so that the water filtered and funneled instead of rushing and causing mud slides. I'm just so thankful we took the time to do what we thought was best now it's saving us time on the backend. 🙏

That's amazing. Our biggest hurdle so far has been the road. We don't have a fully established one so we needed an engineer to create a road plan and that goes before the planning commission next week. We have to hire it out because we're not in a position to do it ourselves but if we were, I'd do it. It seems really doable, even if it's hard work. I'm bracing myself for the cost. 😩
@NaturesNear4 ай бұрын
Good luck with everything! There will be plenty of opportunity for you to get some sweat equity. I often look back, and I'm proud of our hard work and the fact that it's debt free. However, how much time did it cost us. We are killing it on Airbnb at a 98% occupancy rate since opening. Sometimes, I wonder how much income we missed, but I do like our profit margins. 🤔 So my conclusion is to do what works for you and trust that it will all work out 😊.

Thank you so much for following, and our true purpose is to motivate others. I always say we are not so much of a how-to channel but more of a if we can do it, so can you. I see your concern with the robes they were a gift from Eric's parents to congratulate us on this journey. We do intend to rebrand the robes once worn out in a few months. That isn't our company logo, just something the embroider came up with for them. Our new ones are left blank, we don't intent to keep using this branding. I hope we can be some help to you guys once you pull the trigger. We are rooting for you 😊
