The number of times that interviewees say: "that is SUCH a good question" on this show is honestly the best sign of how amazing you two are as interviewers. Totally agree sometimes we just read less, and sometimes we read a ton. It’s always so up and down like everything else in life. I’ll always be here from a video from you whether it’s about 2 books or 20. I’ll be sad when your Japan life vlogs are over forever, but so excited for the next phase of your life back here in the States!!

All the love to the small wrap-ups! I think it's super healthy to show that even your biggest hobbies can come and go in waves. SO exciting to hear that you are firmly planning to go back to the US soon, even if it's bittersweet to leave the beautiful Japan behind. And oooh good luck with your ankle surgery, I really hope that all goes well!! Also, make that four jobs with being a mom as well friend, I don't know how you do it! 😅🤩 Anyway, glad that these two books were such gems for you! I really need to reread TBTWB and continue the series. And consider me intrigued about the other book, I had never heard of it before but it sounds very fascinating and refreshing! Bittersweet in a plethora of ways, but having Sumire grow up enar her U.S. extended family is going to b such a joyful experience for me to witness. I'm barely doing it 😭🫠 Thank god for support networks. Community really is key. What was your star rating for TBTWB? I recall you really enjoyed it, but for some reason I can't pull out the specifics... And it's definitely fascinating! Dark and fascinating. All the love right back to you 💕💕

@@MaedBetweenthePages Succint? Debatable, with my urge to ramble on about everything 🤣 And I bet Sumire is going to adore growing up in the US surrounded with so much family who love her!! My rating was a 3.5 initially but a 4 in hindsight I think. That book is SO rich in its storytelling, and I really think it will only get better on re-read!

I've been very curious to try The Book that Wouldn't burn at some point, maybe next year sometime. Sounds like you've been having some high quality reads and I feel like that's always preferable to a high quantity (unless it's a high quantity of 5 stars of course 😆).

I would definitely give it a try! If you're in the mood for a slow-burn dual POV that plays with timelines, it would scratch that itch perfectly :) Thank you for this! 🥹 I agree, a few small books is better than a large quantity of mediocre reads. Hopefully the number will naturally increase again if I'm able to set aside time for it :)

I’m really happy for you about your new job, you seem really excited about it! The Book That Wouldn’t Burn sounds so good, I love books about books and libraries. I can’t wait to give that one a shot one of these days! I find it so important to carve out time to read or else, for me, it just doesn’t happen. Good luck with your cozy ritual! It's also dual POV and plays with timelines a lot.

Pull up an Autumn aesthetic lo-fi video, candle if you have one, get yourself some snack-y snacks, blankies, and an old fashioned and I promsie you, it's the best form of self care there is. Coloring while listening to an audiobook in that scenario is also 🤌🤌🤌

Hilo is a wartime Pillar! Lan was a peacetime Pillar! Ayt would’ve ran over Lan & easily destroyed NoPeak if he didn’t 💀. I view Hilo as Sonny from Godfather. He grew up all knew was Clan above all else. Hilo is easily my favorite character.

Oh I agree with this for sure! The question lies in whether decisions made post-Lan lead to the wartime we speak of. Additionally though, Hilo will just never recover as an individual from the choices he made in this installment in regards to Niko. But I understand why a lot of people like him.

I've read Cranford, for a previous Victober! It's Victorian small-town loves and losses, and the march of progress and what it does to a community of women. It's lovely. Dame Judi starred in an adaptation!

The Winnowing Flame is such a fun series, love watching you guys gush about it and Vintage is by far the best character. SPOILERS Noon deserved better in the ending, but it was also poignant and powerful so I don't know that I actually want it to be any different xD

Kendal is beautiful, not too far from me and the Lake District in general is so picturesque.
