My first playthrough I thought Elcor were silly.... Years later, as a psychologist with personal preference in learning better healthier relationships of all types, Elcor talk is unironically great communication... I absolutely use Elcor talk to give off my tonal intent, especially over texts...... "Comically, I found the irony in..."... "Mildly annoyed, I don't understand why they did that.".... "Frustratingly, there was too much of..."... "I'm enthused by spending time with you"...

Very interesting. I believe this option is no longer available in the game, since the romance conversation unlock is tied to the story now instead of companion influence, and can only be triggered later. I was romancing Nadia but in my version she didn't offer this and got pissed off when I asked her to to it.

Somewhere between ME2 and ME3, BioWare storytellers forgot that it was the krogans' high birth rate that made them valuable to fight the rachni. But it also made them unfit to live in a post-industrial world where they weren't losing 70-80 percent of each 900-to-1400-egg brood to predation, winnowing, and other environmental threats. If the Council really wanted the krogan gone, they'd have antimattered Tuchanka. Reducing their birth rate was the best way to keep them from continuing to overrun every garden world they got (thus avoiding another Kreddik and krogan rebellions.) "Like gardening," as Mordin said. Designing and deploying a genetic mod that finds the right balance was *hard work,* but it was better than genocide. The answer to getting more krogan troops was always there: Grunt. The industrial base required to mass-produce krogan clone troops with Grunt's capabilities was the perfect answer because Okeer left the genophage in place (yes, that's canon.) After the reaper war, the "genophaged" krogan birth rate would have kept the population relatively stable. Mass Effect: All in the Details at FanFiction.

Agree except for one little point: the alliance couldn't copy grunt. Okeer himself said that his tech he got from the collectors was all consumed making grunt. So grunt is a one time thing unless you can plunder a collector information cache. Something else too: just because a krogan female can have that many cholildren doesn't mean they will. Just like a human female could produce x number of children every few years doesn't mean a modern female will. Krogan females would likely stop mass reproducing young post reaper war and focus on being mothers instead of baby factories. Eve's rise to power if she and wrex survive would Kickstart that.

@stevejordan7275 5 ай бұрын
@@domnicdial9405 1) Maybe, if we don't assume any self-promotion from Okeer. This is surely spoken for drama and impact, either personal, or by the storyteller(s). Consider that he's building a perfect krogan, not some krogan-Collector hybrid; he's after racial purity. If it's data that he can't get again, that's just silly. Information doesn't get "consumed," it gets copied when applied. If he had some novel technology or chemical from the Collectors, he would surely have learned as much about it as he could before consuming it. Enzymes? A synthetic form of ATP, or protein that codes for Gorm-level regeneration? All this can be distilled from existing sources. Or do you imagine he would really allow his ability to make more "perfect krogan" be bottlenecked by the Collectors' ability to throttle his supply of one critical ingredient? I would not believe that for a nanosecond.) Even if he didn't already have a good supply of it, he'd know a lot more about it than he did before he got it, and this would be part of his research notes. Rana Thanoptis might even be persuaded to help. Grunt himself - in his latest form - becomes the template for hardware and wetware. "Glass mother" programming for future troops could be drawn from Grunt's current form, perhaps even to the point of battlemaster loyalty (i.e., Shepard, or maybe even a designee.) If nothing else, what would be the point on being able to build only *one* perfect soldier? Okeer's overall plan would have been to build platoons of them at a time, thus the dozens of grow-vats while experimenting. Once he had the formula, mass-production could begin in earnest...though probably someplace else (had he survived.) 2) From a canon perspective, we simply have no idea how many krogan young are produced at fertilisation. But if they're anything like frogs, mosquitoes, or fish (which produce vast quantities of young with the assumption that only a small fraction will survive to reproduce,) a clutch of krogan eggs would number in the hundreds, possibly thousands. Krogan (I don't recall who) even talked about the duty to eat the weaklings or malformed, the logic being that "only the strong survive." The salarians had to teach them *not* to do this during the uplift, but a veneer of social training imposed by aliens hardly has a chance against millennia of custom, let alone the forces of evolutionary pressure that would drive and encourage it. Breeding numbers like this are also have evolutionary value in an environment as hostile as pre-nuclear Tuchanka allegedly was: everything was out to eat krogan. Note how they even have eyes on the *sides* of their heads for better environmental awareness than stereoscopic vision like predators do; they were a *prey species* before the uplift. They had to withstand threats like thresher maws, and a hundred other things we never saw (consider a carnivorous angstik, or thanator [both from Avatar's Pandora.]) Applying the logic of what a human female would do to krogan seems misguided. The fact that we humans still have cultures and religions that try to outbreed the competition should be instructive. (Ever heard the term "Catholic twins?" Have you any awareness of the concern raised in France about how it may soon be a Muslim-majority country simply by population?) The lessons learned by American Millennials and post-revolution Chinese has little if anything to do with what a species in the position of the krogan would do; the situations are separated by centuries and light-years...and fiction.

@stevejordan7275 it probably was some kind of machine or device, not raw data. Okeer probably wasn't taught the specific details on it, but was just given a rundown of what it did. Th exchange was probably along the line of Okeer: 'I want to create a pure krogan supersoldier with no defects or weakness' Collectors: 'we can provide you a device for this, but you must give us ## of krogan' Okeer didn't need to know the specifics on the tech he used in order for it to work, and he likely didn't care as long as it did what he wanted. The collectors biological tech was probably a one time use before becoming useless, not wanting to trade any tech that could be learned from by what they viewed as targeted harvest species. The reapers wouldn't want the collectors to pass on any tech that could make their coming invasion harder, and wouldn't approve trades that would significantly advance their tech level. What you are failing to remember is the position of importance that krogan society places on females, especially females capable of breeding children. There's a reason wrex is sharing power with Eve and a reason even rival clans are joining clan urdnaut. This is assuming that wrex and eve survive of course. Usually male chieftains have held power over their clans, but now, with females capable of breeding again, thr power dynamic has shifted. If male chieftains seek to return to the old ways and the numbers needed for wars, they need the females to breed and raise new troops. From what you get from Eve and from other scraps of info during the war, that support won't be forthcoming as the females aren't interested in just breeding the next wars cannon fodder. I am aware of the theory on the islamification of France, while it is possible, I don't think it has bearing here. The krogan won't be competing with anyone, even each other since wrex has them locked into an alliance with his clan as the lead.

@@domnicdial9405 1) Sorry; as a heavy user of technology, I simply cannot let this go. "Okeer didn't need to know the specs of the tech to use it..." That is utterly and completely wrong; I would even go so far as to call it thoughtlessly dangerous. Plug a 240V supply into a 120V device, and it'll melt or explode (or at least trip a breaker or blow a fuse, safeties that are built into end-user technologies to protect people who use technologies in ignorance.) You have an ICE car that uses 10W40 and you pour milk in? Dead engine. Or perhaps you pour nitroglycerine in; you've just made a bomb. I could do on ad nauseum, but the point remains: One simply cannot use technologies (even fire is a technology) without knowing what you have and how you can use it safely. Ignorance is a sure-fire recipe for damage or death. That goes double...or TRIPLE...for inventors and engineers on the leading edge of development. The reason chemistry (to cite but one example) of all flavours is and must be clearly marked is so people who encounter it can know what they're seeing. (We do NOT put out fires with isopropyl, and we do NOT grease moving parts with sand.) If you work in a lab where such things are in use, you'll be required by law to take a training on safety and how to understand the labels and the hazards each item presents, as well as what you can and cannot do with them. Using technology in ignorance during development will fail whatever it is you're trying to do, and likely hurt or kill yourself and others. If Okeer needed some unknown substance, emitter, generator, or whatever, it's because he had reached a point in development where he knew what he had, he knew what he needed, and he lacked a technology to get from the first to the second. This alone would make abundantly clear what it was he was getting from the Collectors. (One would have to infer they would know what it was he was doing *and how he was doing it to know what to give him, and how much of it, as well as provide some information about how to catalyse it or how long it would take for it to finish curing or be fully mixed in, or whatever.) Reverse engineering is *almost* as old as engineering itself. If all Okeer got was a substance, he would almost certainly examine it thoroughly before using it, and if he was indeed the rare technology-inventing krogan, he would already understand the value of doing so: Not having to go back to them to get more. How long did it take the American natives to appropriate the technologies of the more advanced invading Europeans? (e.g., horses, firearms, even attire, or alcohol.) Knowing something is even possible is half the process. (Tangent: Notice how the Chinese have almost wholly stopped developing new technologies, and simply appropriate the stuff they are sent to mass produce.) 2) Still sounds like you're equating krogan society with human, as well as ignoring sexual equality on the battlefield. ("Our females don't want for spirit!" -Wrex, after Bakara ["Eve"] grabbed his shotgun and gunned down two Cerberus troops, ME3) Krogan females (from what we've seen in the trilogy and Andromeda) are every bit as capable. Denok Shiagur is a notable example, but you'll note that, at least in canon, a female warlord (military leadership rather than civil) is unusual. Only females can lay eggs, and that will give them at least a different role, and possibly more protection so they can keep doing it. I also suspect you're assuming krogan females mother their young in a time-intensive way, as do humans, rather than "hands-off" like most animals. (e.g., Fish spawn, lay eggs, and they're done. So do insects, lizards, and [as far as we can tell] dinosaurs.) She might guard the clutch until they start hatching, maybe even do something like throw them away from the group so the smell that location would surely have as a result doesn't draw predators. And Wrex bemoaned at length the trouble he was having keeping the various clans together. Gatatog Uvenk was leading a consortium of clans that opposed Wrex, and to assume that a sudden sense of unity has spontaneously arisen after Uvenk's death would almost certainly be a mistake. (The Islamification of France was merely an example in support of my observation that humans still have cultures and religions that try to outbreed the competition; in the case of the krogan, this is part of what gave them an advantage against the rachni: a societally-leveraged, evolutionary trait.)

@stevejordan7275 the entire problem of your view is you are viewing it as a scientist, not a soldier. You feel the need to learn from and analyze any tech you could get you hands on. Okeer wasn't an honor student from a bio college, he was a centuries old warlord who was simply looking for a means of beating an old enemy. The argument that he would have studied the collector tech at length before using it is assuming he acts likes a scientist, not a krogan warlord looking for any tool to win with. Maleon talks about this at one point, saying that there is no krogan scientist worthy of the name. This isn't due to a lack of intelligence, but a lack if interest. Krogan mostly don't care on the specifics on how something works, just as long as it does what they want. Wrex and eve both drop clues that point toward the krogan balance of power being upset throughout both me2 and me3. Wrex talks about setting up a neutral ground where clans and females co mingle and protect each other. Eve emails you with news of support she has gathered on tuchanka from both rival clans and females. Wrex also emails with bits and pieces. Uvenk speaks of how precariously his clan is positioned before your shep kills him. With him and his krant dead his clan likely falls apart, as is his coalition.

Primarch Victus is genuinely one of my favorite characters in the trilogy. This whole exchange is fantastic. Wrex’s frustration is understandable but he is way out of line here. That being said it perfectly fits his character as he has always been a somewhat selfish hothead. Given Tarquin’s death immediately proceeds this conversation tho, and to Adrien’s point he had no part in placing the bomb, Wrex is definitely in the wrong. Victus on the other hand is attempting to defend the decision as he cannot outright condemn actions taken by the government he is the head of, even if he had no part in those actions himself. His VA also does an incredible job selling the exasperated frustration the Primarch is experiencing. He just lost his son to atone for the sins of his government, the same government that is now completely his responsibility. He knows that rationally, the needs of the Turian people outweigh those of his family but he can hardly be blamed for hating that fact. Throw on top of all this that he JUST got this job a few days ago after watching the Reapers slaughter and and burn the Turian homeworld. The amount of pressure on this man is staggering. He is doing his very best to lead his people through the most challenging thing they have ever experienced. To do that he must maintain composure in the most hopeless circumstances, including the death of his own son. (The dude reminds me of Abraham Lincoln) And then there is Shepard, who really has the best read of this situation, able to understand some amount of the pressure Victus is feeling and personally having known Wrex for years. He calls Wrex out for his hypocrisy but still scolds Victus for the Hierarchy’s actions. Really just fantastic writing all around and it’s the post cutscene of what is essentially a fucking side quest. God this trilogy was so good.

Wrex was understandably emotional but he didn’t use reason here. His people waged a bloody war after defeating the Rachni that took a bioweapon to defeat them since they had so many numbers and are very lethal. If and ever they begin evolving past the genophage and start rebuilding most likely to start a new war the bomb would ensure galactic peace would be kept. Its brutal but considering there are a lot more Wreav’s than Wrex’s you can argue it was necessary.
