Spectacular - nothing is more powerful than the truth as told in a story. Ms Deveare Smith is an American genius.

The black kid who soloed one verse has a very smooth buttery voice, if he sang with more confidence and bravado, he could be really outstanding. First kid had nice tone, and the last kid was quite good as well, very strong voice on him.

I am curious why the students were barefoot... significant?

Anna Deavere Smith has stated she doesn't wear shoes in her performances because when she is playing characters she wants to "walk in their words". They are likely copying what Smith does, it's a nice subtle nod to her work.

@@zac2636 Thanks.. I just recently saw this show here in Ohio. It is powerful. I was living in LA during this time and was actually in the jury pool. I was, however, excused by the attorneys as I worked with youth who were gang involved.

Wow. One of my most favorite songs. Amazing arrangement. Is there sheet music I can buy to support?

The world is greatly appreciative of these uplifted voices. Their brotherly harmony is what will begin to heal and bring our divided country, and world, to believing that only when we listen to one another with respect, and take to heart the duty of being brothers and sisters to all will our voices be truly lifted up. A sincere thanks to the choir master for leading and bringing these young men to their, and his, acquisition of tenderness and gratitude. ♬
