@MAGMOTORACING Using a DJI 03 Air Unit with a Speedybee F405 Wing Flight Controller (to get full range from DJI 03 AU) and GPS module. I also added fans to cool the air unit and flight controller. Car is an Arrma Limitless with Mojave front/rear assembles with a Hobbywing Max5 Combo. Thanks for watching!

@@rustyscrewsrc I know the Mojave is a very stable platform but why chose to add it to a limitless? And good call with the hobby wing. The last 2 castle systems I’ve installed caught fire.

@MAGMOTORACING Originally, I was working on an off-road speed build and decided to use the limitless chaisse. Then decided to repurpose the build. Thr Mojave would work fine without the chaisse replacement.

Are the EDFs just pointing down or are you using them as suckers? Thinking that a 1/5 or 1/7 with a fan sucking the car to the ground would be mental down force.
@rustyscrewsrcАй бұрын
@trekkie1701e The EDFs are facing forward to provide approx. 38lbs of thrust. Since they're mounted above CG for the car, they also provide downforce. I have thought about it though! Thanks for checking out the vid!
@DanielK-xn5siАй бұрын
You're best using the edf fans for downforce, 3/4 of that power is wasted to wheel spin, and wheel spin often results in a car that is slower than a car with less power and more traction. How about a 1/4 scale with twin or triple Lehner 30100 and edf fans sucking it to the ground, 150hp + that would be. As crazy and unnecessary as all this is though it's fun. I do think the future of rc on road could see fans implemented for downforce, the mcmurty road car is testament to what a difference they make. Did see an engineer on KZbin build a fan downforce rc car but it wasn't really hobby grade and wasn't super powerful. Think fans and better tyre durability are what's preventing rc cars advancing to the next level of performance.
@rustyscrewsrcАй бұрын
@DanielK-xn5si Not with these EDFs, they would create too much down force and the car wouldn't move well. Not sure I follow your response. These EDFs are providing adequate down force (haven't had one of these cars lift off from the front end getting higher than the rear). Also, there is a Max4 Combo running along with these, so no loss from wheel spin...just extra thrust to push the car through the air while keeping it on the ground at high speeds. The EDFs are designed to help push the car since the faster you go, the more air molecules you'll hit with greater force...so the EDFs help with that. Thanks for watching!
@DanielK-xn5siАй бұрын
@rustyscrewsrc yes you have them set up to reduce drag but speed runners not running fans are hitting over 200mph with just motors, the limitations are not so much motor power, but rather tyre durability and under hard acceleration lots of wheel spin. Placing some edfs to point the air flow upwards will push the tyres harder into the ground without increasing drag and will enable to use all the power of the motors with greatly reduced will spin resulting in much faster acceleration, better handling etc.. I'm willing to bet if you put a few smaller edfs directing air flow to push the car downwards, keep the motor setup you have and remove any wings, spoilers etc the cars will be much faster acceleration and have much more gip in the corners. This is the guy I was talking about. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3K7m3elYpeLotUsi=4jnIqbmNMpnBxZpT
@rustyscrewsrcАй бұрын
@DanielK-xn5si Yes, I've watched James and specifically, this vid. I'm not focused on hard accelerations with this build (smooth acceleration). The goal for this build isn't to hit 200+ mph on wheel-driven power alone. If you've been speed running, you know that many other things factor into greater speeds, and calculating for drag is a must. Pushing through the wind and tires holding up at these speeds are the bigger challenges to conquer than wheel spin, in my humble opinion. Only focused on hard acceleration when bashing, not speed running. This car is designed to both bash and speed run, so increasing downforce wouldn't make sense with this, and some other of my builds. And James, from Project Air, built a jet-powered speed run rc car, with no additional downforce applied other than the placement of the turbine (similar to my approach with respect to CG, etc.). It's a great build series!
