The Brabham BT46B was not withdrawn so it did not get banned. It was 100% legal as per the FISA. The MP4/4 was NOT the most successful car of all-time until 2023, that record belonged to the Lotus 72 with 20 victories. The MP4/4 has 15. Also, Alain Prost did NOT call the Ferrari 643 'a piece of garbage', he said it as being like a truck to drive. Please report on a sport or activity you actually know something about, leave F1 alone.

@@daveblock4061 Hello, please don’t try to gate-keep a sport just because of some statements some perceive as incorrect. Especially when the arguments are out of context, debatable, or semantics. 1. My *full* statement was: ‘Brabham didn’t want to get banned and Bernie Ecclestone wanted to take over F1.’ The primary reason for the WD was Bernie’s desire to acquire F1 without teams complaining but the legality of the car was still questioned even after the FISA ruling, particularly by Lotus. 2. The 72 did win more races than the MP4/4, but the McLaren had a higher win percentage in its sole year of competition than the Lotus’ 5 seasons. The only reason McLaren didn’t have a 100% clean sweep was because Senna collided with backmarker. It’s probably the most dominant car on pure pace ever seen. (Apart from maybe the 1952 Ferrari 500) 3. Calling a Ferrari F1 car a truck might as well be calling it garbage. Semantics. It’s why he was fired. I am very fond of F1 and just want to talk about some of the greatest cars and drivers it’s ever seen, nothing more. Thanks

2" fuel line, 11' long will not hold 5 gallons of gasoline. At 231 cubic inches per gallon, it would hold 1.8 gallons; and that's if the 2" were the inside diameter, which is unlikely. Either your math or your research is off.

here's a little trivia todays generation might not grasp the genius behind it, in the early days of nascar the term stock car meant stock. even a carburetor spring had to be factory equipment, this was the days of the old hudson flathead inline engines. after getting caught several time with cams and other items that didn't appear to be stock nascar wrote the rule to read factory stock means it has to have the factory casting number on the part, so he cast his own parts and put the factory numbers on the castings. i'm assuming everyone already knows about the inflated ball in the fuel tank, the larger than normal fuel lines and the length of the lines.

Absurd graffics, showing 1960's Can Am cars competing with late 1970's Gt/GTP cars, something which never happened in any real racing. To get a more accurate coverage of this, check out John Facarra's VinWikki video. Having been involved as an official in professional road racing at the time that this story covers, pretty much everyone onvolved knew what was going on and nobody was surprised when he entire operation went down like the Hindenburg.

I regret that I never met Smokey or Bill Jenkins, they were always my heroes. One of the reasons nothing came of Smokey's vapor engine was that GM bought the patent, according to Hot Rod Magazine at the time. Perhaps they buried it, or it didn't pan out in the long run.

He used steel wool in the intake to break up the fuel into vapor but if anyone thinks that big oil will allow that kind of milage then you just don't know how government works, they kill the car industry with regulations that big oil don't allow, nobody can make a car that gets over 30mpg

All gasoline fueled engines run on gasoline vapor, not liquid gasoline, that is a major function of a carburetor to atomize the gasoline so it turns into vapor in the intake manifold

This would be a decent video if it wasn't ruined by fake cars that are completely incorrect with stupid AI animation that is totally incorrect & fugly. If I am watching a documentary on Historical race cars I would rather see the actual car in a still image then some "artificial intelligence" manufactured nonsense race footage. Showing a 1955 Chevy While discussing a 1961 Pontiac is absolutely sloppy & lazy. As if that wasn't bad enough you made a 1972 Ford Mustang wearing the iconoc livery of the no.13 gold/black 1968 Camaro? That is quite literally sacrilege. It shows you are not a real Enthusiast who cares about being accurate even when your sloppy mistakes are going to enrage fellow car nerds

@ 14:21 Yes... yes, you really said "eye-less" of Man for "Isle of Man." I'm sure it's not your fault... It's pronounced like "I'll of Man." and "isle" is an island and the 'isl' part is pronounced the same way. Please tell me you don't pronounce "island" like 'is-land.' And BTE, there is an actual definition of 'decimate' and most people are using the word incorrectly. "Decimate" is based on the word "decimal," you know... as in TEN. To 'decimate' refers to losing one in ten. It doesn't mean to utterly destroy something even if everyone else uses it that way.

I had the privilege of meeting him at his shop in Daytona in March of 1994! I was a young guy at the time, and had a book he had written , and had put his advice to pretty good use!!! I was bold, and somewhat fearless. I actually looked him up in the phone book, called his house, and his wife answered the phone! I asked if this was smokies house, and she affirmed it was! She put him on the phone, and i asked directly if I could meet him! He said that he was home for lunch, but would be back at the shop at 2:00. I was there with bells on!!! He probably spent a half hour talking to me!!! This left an impression on me that lasts even today! I miss real men who no matter what their stature, took time to engage normal people like we mattered too!!! His motto was, "if the rule book doesn't say you can't, you have to assume you can"!!! Thats not cheating!!!

just so you know gas engines don't burn liquid gas because liquid gas doesn't burn, it vaporizes and that burns. Engines without catalytic converters have exhaust that smells like gas because most of the fuel is escaping out the tailpipe unburned. If you vaporize the fuel before it enters the combustion chamber it will completely combust and give you more efficient operation of the engine. Inventors that have tried to sell their gas vapor engine technology in the past have either become unbelievably wealthy selling their patents to oil companies with non disclosure agreements so the public never learns about and uses them or they die early by "suicide", poisoning, overdose, etc... I made the most ghetto unsophisticated and unrefined system that I got 228 mpg using, and never got the opportunity to refine because the transmission on that car went out on it. :(

Everything considered, especially how history has a bad habit of being distorted, Pixar treated Smokey's legendary status very well in "Cars 3". There's no doubt that the man is an unsung legend of auto racing. AFAIK, his last project was getting insane fuel mileage from a heavily modified Pontiac Fiero by vaporizing the gasoline before burning it. Let's just say that Smokey and Bill France didn't like one another and leave it at that.
