Now if you want to know more here is Soyeon's Genius plan to revive (6)I-DLE : This is happening and will happen, by ZeroCovid. * Since Soojin left, there's a reference to her in every music video. * Literally 8 of 9 songs on I Never Die are about Cube, about Soojin being fired, or about how the group wants to stay together. The intro at that one awards ceremony? * I suspect at least 3 songs on I Love are about the same topics too. * Soyeon's whole "Windy" album is a hostile comment about how the music industry is like the fast food industry, so it's about the same topic, again. * On "2", Revenge is very clearly about Cube firing Soojin too, and the MVs are even more blatant. Doll is also about relationships between idols and the industry. They're not over this. * On "I Sway", "Last Forever" again seems to be about their careers, while Neverland is obviously about the relationship with the fans. That's the evidence from the music. Now from public appearances and interviews: * They are swearing up and down that they plan to be together forever (Soyeon saying she will support Minnie for 90 more years! Minnie saying she wants to be with (G)I-DLE for 40+ years and Yuqi agreeing! Promising new music on a new tour next year at *every concert*!) * They're also badmouthing Cube (in a socially acceptable way, just within the limits of acceptability) pretty much constantly, and counting down the days to the end of their contracts... in public. * They were clearly really upset by losing Soojin, and we know they were all very close to her. One more thing: * Soyeon does not like corporate interference with her vision, and firing Soojin was corporate interference with her vision. And then there's this: * If you wanted to bring Soojin back to the group when you started your own label, you'd have to relaunch her as a soloist a year in advance, and have her chart -- so as to prove to investors and other colleagues in the business that it was safe to hire her and wouldn't cause any marketing problems. This, to everyone's surprise, happened exactly on schedule. * If they wanted to leave and start their own label, they needed to make a huge pile of money -- they had apparently barely broken even when Soojin left due to having to "repay training costs". Oh, one other thing. I believe that before moving to their own label, particularly if bringing Soojin back, they also would have wanted to strengthen their international fandom. The "Heat" album, while an oddity, introduced a bunch of English-language KZbinrs and influencers to (G)I-DLE, spreading awareness in the English-speaking world (they then followed back to the other material). Marketing mission accomplished. I think Soyeon knows what she's doing as a businessperson. If she doesn't have her own company by late next year I'll be surprised. She might have a sublabel of another label, I suppose, but I think that's less likely than her owning her own label. (After all, Psy owns his own label; why shouldn't she?) I actually suspect the whole group might want to move to the US (there's a bunch of clues she might want to do that, including the English-language album, the love letter to LA which is the Klaxon video, Yuqi's repeated claims that LA is her hometown, evident frustration with Korean restrictions on what she can do, and more). But that's speculation and even if they want to, Soyeon may not be able to do that.
