At least two to three times the price, twice as much maintenance and docking fees. If I could I'd still get one though.

We have a 90 ft aluminum cat in our company with twin 3412 cats in her. 3000 hp each with variable pitch props etc, cats r nice to sit and fish and yes they ride nice in chop. Suck in a head sea. Rattle your teeth out. That’s just this rig.

I had 3 mon hulls but switching to Cat. Considering comfort, stability, and more space for guests!! will share the experience as for 20 years I have been living with mon.

Some are saying the cat handled better because it was going slower. Cats lift and handle even better than monos when going faster, so it was an unfair comparison against the cat that still was better. I’ve been in dozens of monos from 5m to 8m and the 7.4m Marlin Broadbill i have been on in huge seas reeled in and passed every single mono hull within eyesight. I own two monos and am in the process of buying my next offshore boat- a cat. Nothing comes close for stability, deck space, fuel efficiency and handling. Only the uneducated comment against cats.

once you have owned a cat it is very hard to switch back to a mono hull. All boats have their + & -'s, but the cat has way more positive aspects in rough water, head seas, trolling, stability and way more room due to design being basically a rectangle.

A high aspect ratio monohull is better, especially in very rough water, a cat will just get flipped, mono cuts through waves. If you compared a mono to a cat with the same area and displacement, the mono being longer and cat wider, the mono wins.

@@chippyjohn1 cats are unballasted which also allows them to float if wrecked. Im sure a mono hull can turn or top out higher but the advantages are in favor of cat by far.

I think all the haters on here have mono hulls :), I have had both and currently own a cat. There is no comparison. The cat is a better boat all around.

For comfort yes but for people who wants fun mono is the best. You can feel the sees with mono and it's faster and more maneuverable and less expensive

@@webincomeincome8767 I run a world cat before! It bow steered, Was wet, and turned like shit all while being slow lol ! I’ve been in a freeman. That leaned the wrong way in a turn like it wanted to kill you.

@@trevorforbes2382 just because a cat reacts differently does not mean it’s bad it’s simply different. Why do you think cats kick the assess of monohulls in any offshore race with a bit of chop? I assure you it’s not because they aren’t more efficient or can’t turn.

Well they were in the same conditions but clearly not the same speed...I would have liked to see how much the mono hull ride improved if they would have slowed down to match the cat boats speed
