Hi why you change both? The p0011 it's not on right side? Thanks for answering
@TrailRunnerGuy8 сағат бұрын
Good question. It’s generally recommended to change both left and right camshaft sensors at the same time. They often fail around the same time. And even better to do the crankshaft sensor while in there too. My P0011 (cam, Bank 1 - right/passenger side was finally resolved for good about a week ago). Aftermarket sensors are truly not reliable and I’ll be switching them all out to Hitachi (all 3, before doing any longer trip). Don’t want to be stranded. 🤘🏻

You’ll always get coil bucket contact going the cheap spacer route. Best thing is to go with extended travel coilovers.

My 07 Xterra has a leak in the valve cover gasket passenger side rear corner. I did not know the valve cover gaskets are different. Why do you think it leaked?
@TrailRunnerGuy2 ай бұрын
That passenger side rear corner valve cover gasket has always been a problem on mine. It’s much better now with a rare drip vs a prior flow. I’m not sure but I think I overtightened the bolts. Next time I will torque them properly.

Rotten luck, but the 2003 models don't have the connector at the switch. You gotta disassemble everything above it in the engine bay in order to take it off. And since you're buying the part with the harness attached, it's also more expensive.

I have a Kia Sorento 2019 that has this problem. 40k miles on it, and the driver front assembly needs replacement, but the passenger seems to corroded so will need replacement as well. My question to you is, what if any torque settings are there for this replacement? If so, what tool would you best recommend for this job? Thank you in advance.
@TrailRunnerGuy8 ай бұрын
Yours is 8 years newer than mine was so not sure on torque #. (I no longer have it). The FSMs can be found here and spec #s included. www.ksmanual.com/kia_sorento_xm_2011_year_service_manual-195.html If you are replacing the strut yet, keeping your existing springs, I recommend any sort of spring compressor tool with the 3-piece clamps. Much safer than 2-piece. If I can find the one I have I’ll post it below.

TrailRunnerGuy: I just put on my WAM winch bumper and an OFFROAD 13K Winch. I bet it squatted about 3/4" on the front end. I have oem springs and 5100 Bilstein's on the 3rd setting. Not the highest lift but next to it. So I get to adjust my spring position to the highest position to gain back the way it was sitting. Thanks for sharing your bumper instaall it helped alot. I cut off about 2" below the top of the bottom section of bumper to create a nice hole for the winch access. The opening is about 1/2" below the bottom of the winch. That is as close as I could guess on location. But it turned out well. Thanks again.
@TrailRunnerGuy10 ай бұрын
Right on - glad it worked out! I’m sure your bumper trimming was 10x better than my hack job too! Careful adjusting it to the highest setting though. Your up-travel will be next to nothing and likely harsh (at least mine was). I moved it back to the middle setting.

@beardumaw24 Жыл бұрын
The 5100s are a great shock if set up right. Don't preload them all the way, ie don't adjust them to the highest lift setting that limits the shock travel and flex and makes them ride worse. Leave them on the lowest lift setting so they keep their shock travel and add a lift spacer on top of your coilovers to add vehicle lift and you will keep all the travel the 5100s have and keep good flex and ride.
@TrailRunnerGuy Жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more. Through trial and error I still landed on the middle setting to keep my ride height where I wanted it. And the fact that I rarely get off the pavement for any serious terrain. Need to change that!

what's your thoughts on skipping that replacement coupler altogether and just connecting the hose directly to the core outlet fitting? problematic?

I know people have done it. Heard of a roadside fix doing that a time or two as well. If it doesn’t leak and doesn’t pull the hose too much I don’t see why it wouldn’t work long term too.

All 2005 Xterras and early 2006s have a live oil pressure gauge (instead of a dummy gauge which just sits in the middle). What you’re seeing here is 100% normal. All timing components including channel gaskets were replaced by me a couple years ago - should outlast the vehicle. 🤞🏻
