Beautiful! Found this back closer to when it was uploaded, been meaning to ask, never got around to it. Do you remember what hardness of Tom Burritt mallets you used?
@justinmcconchie15 күн бұрын
I don’t remember for sure, but I would guess it was 2-3-3-4

After listening to the original I had a dream of hearing it on a xylophone and found this version by Justin, simply superb

This is beautiful... Oddly, i went to high school in MA with a Justin McConchie.... you don't look the same, but it's been 20 years...coincidence?

Ha, definitely a different Justin

oh this is stunning! this just made me so happy to hear as clair de lune is one of if not my favorite classical pieces of all time, and also as someone who's more skilled on the piano than the marimba haha thank you for sharing the link for the sheet music in the description! i can't wait to purchase it and learn it myself :)!

Sublime ... love how the marimbasticks elegantly dance over the instrument ...

I would try rolling the notes that are sustained on piano.
@kirbywaite15863 ай бұрын
The only thing I miss are the sustained notes only the piano is able to provide. They convey the sensation of steady, continuous moon beams which Debussey was able to so ingeniously cause us to hear, and quite nearly, see. However, this was very lovely.

They are Innovative Percussion Thomas Burritt mallets. They do sound great, but there are a lot of other factors too!

Marimba's my favourite instrument, and I've had one since I was about 11/12. I've just finished professional-level music studies with 16, and I hope to enter the ESMUC music school after a year to get myself ready. Even my confidence in how I play this beautiful instrument has shattered upon listening to you play... Adding this video to my favourites so I can try myself! Though I'm sure no one could play it better than you... Well played, I'm in total awe. ❤

I saw a few comments about good bye and dogs, so I finally read the description (I was watching on my phone). Beautiful rendition and this brings back memories of my Mother and my sister (who passed away at the age of 16), who played this often. I love this piece on Marimba and I saved this in my Awesome Performances playlist.
