How often should I bath my pup?
@whitneysgrooming2 жыл бұрын
It depends on their breed, coat type, where you live, weather, their level of activity, and how dirty they're getting! Most dogs need baths once every 4-8 weeks.

When I rescued my baby his ears were chopped super super short how do you prevent water from getting in them while bathing?
@whitneysgrooming2 жыл бұрын
I would suggest not pouring water on his head, instead get a wash cloth and use that to get his head and ears wet, use it to apply the shampoo, and rinse it out really well, then use it again to rinse him off. Good luck with your baby!

Why separate soap for her face?
@whitneysgrooming3 жыл бұрын
Good question! I use a tear free facial soap that's made for faces. It's non toxic and won't hurt her if she swallows some. Just like humans use different face wash!

Never use a human blow dryer it is harmful to dogs, always use a blow dryer MADE for dogs also it’s best to brush them when their fur is dried up.
@whitneysgrooming3 жыл бұрын
Hair has more elasticity when it's wet so you are less likely to cause breakage and damage. If you're using a human hair dryer, use it without heat. Most hair dryers have that option.

you should never brush a dog when it's wet as it stretches its coat and hurts them
@whitneysgrooming3 жыл бұрын
Hello! Do you have a source for this information? Brushing a dog when wet means the hair has more elasticity so there will be less breakage. It definitely does not hurt the dog.

Do you use special medicated shampoo because of dermatitis ? My dog has it and I wanted to find a good shampoo for him. Any recommendations?
@whitneysgrooming3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but I would ask your vet! There are many different types of skin infections that need different types of medicated shampoo.

I get apoquel from my vet. It's costly but clears up dermatitis almost immediately.

Can you and Stella come to my house and teach my dog Sully that the bath is our friend, not our enemy 😩 (I'm too embarrassed to bring him back to the groomers we were going to since the last time he had diarrhea before they could dry him…and that was after the time he peed on the lady trimming his nails 🤦🏻♀️)
@whitneysgrooming3 жыл бұрын
Oh my! I have definitely dealt with that as a groomer! We see these things all the time, don't be embarrassed! You can make sure to take him on a walk and empty his bladder/bowels before the groomer. You can also take your pup in when he's not getting anything done, and give him lots of treats so he knows it's a safe place!

I’ve heard that you’re not supposed to brush a dogs coat while it’s wet because it’s disrupts the coat, why do you say different? Not in a mean way just want to know what’s best for my boy
@whitneysgrooming3 жыл бұрын
When you brush a dry coat it can cause more breakage as the follicle is more brittle. Wet hair has more elasticity.
