Alright so, about the artificial dungeon and how artifical biomes work in general, they don't depend on the shape of the structures but rather the amount of biome specific blocks within a certain area. So, say you place a bunch of snow blocks in one area, at a certain amount of snow blocks placed in close proximity to eachother the game will classify that as a tundra biome and switch to the appropriate background, start spawning the appropriate enemies, etc. Same thing can happen with the dungeon too, since it's technically a biome type. Place enough dungeon wall blocks underground pre-skeletron and I'm certain it will spawn a dungeon guardian.

The Polarities are a pretty good contender for one of the hardest Terraria bosses. They base their positioning on your movement and constantly switch whether they're moving toward or away from you, which can be disorientating. They're fought at the same point as the Moon Lord.
