While I don’t doubt it was a mitigating factor, the Flyers have had problems with agents in the past - Ritch Winter for example - but eventually, those situations are worked out. If the Flyers have the opportunity to draft James Hagens next year and he’s represented by KO, they’re not going to pass.

Teams are usually not going to play games at the top of the draft. ANA liked Carlsson better and it wouldn’t surprise me if CBJ was indifferent…When the Flyers took Gauthier, CBJ was ready to take him if Jiricek wasn’t there. Teams usually assess their position in the draft and have a couple of guys they like for plans B & C and since those 2 centers were that close, CBJ could’ve been neutral

I'm hoping Helenius falls to us at 12 as I think he will be the perfect centerman for Michkov... And as an added bonus, he absolutely despises Cutter Gauthier even refusing a hand shake at the conclusion of the World Junior's finals!!! Now that's the kinda attitude that is perfect for Philly!!!
@obpuckcast47942 ай бұрын
Helenius seems like a high floor pick, but without a lot of dynamic element. Maybe a smaller, but sturdier version of Coots. High hockey IQ

Please don’t ruin your podcast anymore by having this clown on. 🙏

I don't agree with Russ usually either, but I'm OK with hearing his opinion. I don't always need a Flyers apologist when they do something wrong. I like to hear different opinions, but yes, he is grating if you want to hear something positive. I mean, no one expected the Flyers to be where they are in the standings at this time of year, so they have to be doing some things right, right?
@obpuckcast47945 ай бұрын
If Russ has a bias, it’s not against the Flyers, but Tortorella to some degree and the Flyers handling of prospects. His input is generally well-informed however and he’s one of the best prospect guys out there. As always, appreciate your listenership and feedback 👍

@@user-fs9hg8dz6z Yes sir. It's been a fun season. My issue with him is that everything the Flyers do, every move they make or don't make he feels the need to criticize it. Nothing is ever positive from him when it comes to the Flyers, which is understandable since he is after all, a Rangers fan. I just don't understand why he is podcasting on Flyers podcasts. He seems to know the prospects well and that's fine. He should stick to podcasting about prospects and not the Flyers IMO.

The way i see it. This team does not have the high end talent and is not likely to get it with the current group outside of Michkov and maybe Drysdale. I would love to be wrong but i don't see us winning a cup without drastic changes. That being said, i really like the changes with drafting, development, coaching, and GMing which i think gives this plan a chance of working. Alot more unlikely things just need to go right.

I saw that Alexander Appleyard posted that the 2025 draft is very strong on centers. I wonder if the Flyers decide to trade one (or both) of their 1st rounders this year - given the need for D is much less - to acquire additional picks in 2025
@obpuckcast47946 ай бұрын
No. First, draft projections can change radically in months as play falls off or there are injuries and such. Second, the Flyers need to collect assets based on BPA. Look how ANA was able to deal Drysdale because of a surplus. In other words, seize the day - things can change on a dime like with Gauthier. Thanks for listening and your feedback 👍
