hey - thanks for comment. tbh, Amazon isn't the best place to sell certain types of products & I feel it's not worth the effort to only sell in IE. Plus, this isn't possible currently.

I have a UK accountant for my UK companies. Likewise, an Irish accountant for Irish stuff. Just hired a book-keeper on Fiver to help keep things more organised. However, for you I recommend using XERO to keep a track of everything.

Hi Peter. Probably a question you won't have time to answer here but I'm at a loss on a couple of issues that I cannot seem to find the answer to. I have recently been approved by Amazon Handmade. Maybe not your wheelhouse but as an Irish maker wanting to sell within Ireland, Uk & USA do I have to be Vat registered in all countries or just the Country where I make my product. I'm a little older than you so navigating this in a mine field for me. Also is it possible to limit the customer base to only Ireland to start with as I need to do FBM due to the products being personalised? Hope you get a chance to respond? many thanks Mick

I have tried online arbitrage, but it doesn't work well from ROI. A private label is when you put your own brand name on a product. Usually, the product is bought from China, but not always. You're correct regarding VAT and profits, in my experience, but always check with an accountant.

I'd recommend you do. Unless you are UK-established (business or you personally), there is no VAT-free threshold. This means VAT owed to HMRC from day 1. Registering means you can reclaim VAT on expenses/ imports.

This was great help to be honest I have been going through setting up Amazon seller for months now for me it was a nightmare. UK VAT isn't hard to get. You will need to pay a duty for sending your goods from the Republic of Ireland, not Northern Ireland. If goods are made abroad you can send them directly to the UK and avoid Irish duties. What went wrong with your account setup?

@@peterjameslangan I will have to look into that VAT then, I might have some things that could go directly from supplier but a lot of it is handmade here in Ireland but thanks for your information very useful. Not that it went wrong I just found it hard I would rather pay someone to do the set up for me to be honest I just couldn't find anyone, I am busy in my beauty salon as is and then with the new products that I am creating all this setting up was a lot and still looks like I am bouncing back at something like all this shipping and VAT but nearly there. I have to check out what else you have from your informational videos. I just find that it is a lot of information at the start and their seller account to me isn't that simple but maybe it's just me only slowly getting around to it now.

This is such an amazing video. Thank you so much for making this. You just motivated me to continue making videos despite my doubts on myself and thinking how it's either too late to start now or these platforms are beginning to get oversaturated with quick and flashy dopamine-concentrated videos / shorts / tiktoks. I have insurance. Amazon collects taxes, and I declare the I am non-resident in the US for tax purposes.

Hey Darragh. I suppose it will. However, Amazon UK will still likely be shipping products from the UK and as Irish pricing (in stores) is generally higher I doubt this will be profitable in the majority of cases.

You should only need to register in the UK (if that is where you are dispatching goods from). Don't worry about VAT for every country. Amazon takes care of alot of it. Likewise, import tax. However, every situation is different and you should also get the correct advice. If I can help any more let me know !

Now I want to start e-commerce specially Amazon. My question is if I target the UK, USA or Canada, and deliver my product from the supplier to Amazon, should I have to pay VAT tax? Yes, you'll need to pay VAT in the UK, which Amazon will deduct from your payment. It would likely be advantageous to also register for VAT (UK), and thus reclaim VAT on expenses. Don't need company to contact supplier. You won't need to show receipts to Amazon. This is from my experience, I'm not a tax advisor and everyone situation can be different.

Documentation needed for setting up Amazon seller account: if your using a uk address on the business then they would need at send a postcard to your virtual address how would you get the code to verify? Or am I giving my personal address? Thanks

If you are based in the UK register the business to your home address. If based in the ROI, register an Irish company. Things have changed since recording this video.
