Visualize if you will, how many THOUSANDS of times a pull-through, with it's cord loaded with burnt carbon, specks of metal, dirt, etc, has been pulled out of that muzzle, with that cord running across the edge of the muzzle each time as the soldier pulled it out at an angle! How much different than that is abrasive cord? Aside from other issues mentioned by others, that is one reason jamming bullets down the muzzle isn't going to tell you much with respect to diameters. BTW, pull-through wear on the muzzle crown is a specified check during First Line maintenance done by military gun plumbers. If you're gong to test for grouping ability, you might want to start using both a for-end and rear bag.

I have three different varieties to our 7 mm the other is 7.62 Military grade rifles are designed to run with a good slap and push. They're not fine-tuned to be super smooth. They're made to definitely load around and eject that round. The extractor arm on the right could be tuned to make it chamber easier but they were not built to be that smooth but built to actually do their job. Remember in combat you're slamming that bolt back and forth with a very strong extractor to make sure it comes back out so you can get another round in. As far as the stickingness of the bolt. There is a little bit of gum or goo or something somewhere in the slide action more than likely. It only takes a little bit of yuckiness in there to make that happen. These originally used a oil that's almost like a grease to lubricate iy,was it lubricated properly?

When I tested this I was using fresh 7.62 NATO and Iit seemed to chamber correctly , I did not fully close the bolt since I was inside my house & not at the range . When I go out to try the fresh NATO ammo I will make sure to scrub out the chamber throughly and make sure I have oil on the bolt rails

@milsurprifleguy709126 күн бұрын
@@ዐጸዐጸዐጸዐጸዐጸ I would go with the SKS . It is lighter & shorter than the M1 Garand . You can carry more ammo for the SKS. The SKS ammo can be on stripper clips / chargers verses bulky M1 Garand enbloc clips . The SKS holds 10 rounds verses 8 rounds on the M1 Garand . Loading the SKS you don’t have to worry about Garand thumb . 7.62 x 39 ammo most likely can be acquired easier then the 30-06 Garand ammo , which is ammo specific , unless you have changed the operating rod . Well you know what they say not all rifles are built the same and before shooting a older rifle it should be inspected first even while purchasing a new one ! Some rifles have different size bores from .310 to .312 and if a .312 diameter bullet is shot out of a .310 bore dangerous pressures will occure and may burst a older barrel that was actually meant for led style bullets ,the barrels are marked and crown stamped for proper square inch pressures ,the lee Metford barrel is thinner and is not the as for say a jungle carbine .the Lee Metford was actually produced with a coradite and led bullet old school shit ! 😏😒

For how relatively inexpensive it is compared to other commercial offerings, the Accuracy and Quality you get, even for reloading purposes, is a tremendous value. I recently received an Expert Grade M1 Garand from the CMP, it is kind of a disgrace in regards to "M1 Garand safe" ammo, with few offerings out there for it, that Winchester and Federal charge 35+ dollars box for it, meanwhile PPU I can get it anywhere online for sometimes 19.99 a box. In SHTF you don't need a 30 round magazine. You should not be getting into fire fights in SHTF, or you won't be in SHTF for very long. 10 rounds is plenty for an SHTF rifle. The SKS is a very effective SHTF weapon. Good for self defense, great for hunting. You don't have the logistical support a soldier does, stop preparing for war like you're a soldier. I agree with you, in shtf situation your mindset should be survival, not getting into shootouts. People that get latest tech are orienting themselves towards war, instead of avoidance of conflict. Weight carry is extremely important, there is a reason American soldiers in Vietnam and Iraq wars would ditch heavy armor even when they were battle oriented. Life is 99% carrying the gun, maybe 1% shooting so bulkiness of 30 round mags is not only obsolete for peace oriented person, but also makes a primary target. A well trained person with sks clips is not at a disadvantage from magazine fed wanabee soldiers.
@milsurprifleguy70912 ай бұрын
@@onceuponatime2021 I think a lot of people forget or don’t realize how much ammo weighs . Yes with using a mag you would not have to reload as fast as you would with the 10 round stripper clip . But mags weigh more than stripper clips . Mags protrude from the weapon , the enclosed system of the SKS does not , getting closer to the ground / lower profile . It is more than having a firearm & ammo . Can people make a basic camp & shelter , make a fire , provide clean drinking / cooking water . Ok , you can shoot , but do you know how to hunt , dress & cook the game you shot . Sound carry’s , light at night can be seen for quite a distance at night . We are people of routine , so eventually you make a path . All of that can be used at varying degrees for what may arise .
