17:05 ....... I remember when this was a dead end with a small turnaround at the end. That's where we would go rock climbing. If you wanted to go to Jordan's landing you had to go around through Calico Rock and Pineville. Why would we go to that much trouble? Because Jordan had a large National Parks Campground, which usually ment lots of out of state campers with lots of out of state girls. Also, grandpa could sell his Batesville shine to those out of staters for triple that of what locals would pay. 28:24 ..... County Rd. 39, remember when this was gravel and called "Sanders Lane." I see the Rands are still in the arena business. Sheriff, Homer, Pauline, Cecil, good memories all. 37:21 ... Calico Rock, True Value hardware store on the left, built on the ashes of the old movie theater, across the street on the left was the Past Time pool hall. 37:33 ..... The bridge across the White River into Stone county. I remember when there was no bridge. Just a rope drawn single car ferry, 10 cents to cross. State highway 5 was gravel all the way to Mountain View. Thank you for posting and thank you for the memories.

@@clairestephens4916 I just checked the Recreation.gov app and Buffalo Point still has many sites available for the solar eclipse, but they might go quick as we get closer to it.

My Democrat grandfather on my Dad's side was mayor of Gassville and, at another time, my Republican uncle on my Mom's side was mayor of Mtn. Home. My grandfather is buried at the Gassville Baptist Church Cemetery you can see on the right, especially if you lower the video down as low as you can, my grandfather is buried next to the road. My uncle is in the Mtn. Home Cemetery you cannot see from this video.

Went there in the 90s.....haven't been back in about 20 years. Crazy how some of it is unrecognizable to me though I drove down those same streets MANY times....and how some places look exactly the same.

Geeze Ive been down this road decades ago but without the stupid insane music. you arenot interested in people seeing the drive as it really is with the sounds of life, not your ego destroys all that without the stupid jingle.

I was young and lived in Gamaliel Arkansas. We had a two room school there. Looking back it was the best education ever. Pete stennit, son Howard stennit ran the local store along with PQ's one stop dn the road. Its like a story in writing. So easy to live and learn and the way it should be now.
