Good lord, this is a gut-wrenching video. Ding Dong’s voice changing when he says goodbye to his viewers is so telling. He loves his community, and hates leaving them, even though he has to. Godspeed, DD & J. Shame what the internet has become.

After about 10 years of receiving several thousand dollars a month on patreon, and saying their next big project was "almost done" countless times, Ding Dong and Julian have finally released their first game, a parody of a shitty Cartoon Network flash game from 20 years ago. And even then, it got delayed by a year. But of course, those delays were necessary. They needed that time to have a few more delusional meltdowns about how the people that have provided their livelihood and patiently put up with their bullshit are all secretly evil and plotting to ruin their life. But credit where credit's due, they've gone a whole year without "leaving the internet forever" and then returning 3 months later. Delusions of self-imprtance and rampant self-pity. Classic signs of a textbook narcissist. But surely that's just a coincidence, right?

Working on indie animation and developing indie games are two undertakings that usually take several years to complete. They're only two dudes and an occasional composer/additional artist. Also it should be blatantly obvious to anyone with a brain that the Summer Resort thing was made as a bonus project.

im sad i never got to be around as much when ding dong was making content cuz now a lot of stuff's been wiped and i really liked what i did get to see but id miss out on the full experience a thousand times over if it meant him and julian got to live the life they wanted. i just hope theyre in a better place financially, emotionally, etc etc. even if we never see the face behind the games again, it makes me happy knowing hes come out the other side of all of it still cherishing whats really important: the people who truely care for him, and his passion to create. godspeed dd 🙏

and BallSax still refuses to remove his video. tried to delete most of his pathetic comments defending himself because they were embarrassing but still made some more, arguing with other commenters here. It’s truly pathetic, he had a rant and then it’s free real estate for scum to edit down but add drama when he has been so explicit in not wanting that to happen. A blatant disregard for his feelings and wishes, how ironic, whilst trying to seem like he’s shining a light in this situation like he’s DD’s white knight whilst also essentially humiliating him.

I went through a similar situation with a group of ex-friends around the same time frame. Working for people who were covert narcissist for many years drove me mad in many ways where it broke me as well. Watching lets plays did help me get through those times and ngl, was really into the Julian and DD era. It pains me to know they went through all this and I really wish the best for the both of you. It truly is good that you are moving on, because I get it. Los Angeles is just... this brand of toxicity that permeates all throughout. Stay strong, be positive, and love life despite for what it is.

I'm so glad for Julian being there for DD through everything. Their relationship inspires me a lot. I'm so upset hearing that they went through all of this, and even though I am a nobody, I still wish I could have been there for them. To think developers of a stupid dating sim could ruin lives and careers and nearly cause a man to kill himself. Absolutely shameful. Ding Dong has a big heart to be willing to forgive some of the people involved.

There were a few more "last" streams after this which were quite hard to watch. However! DingDong has since made his content public again and does stream occasionally. From what I caught of those he seems to be doing all right now and if not all right, at least better. Julian has been streaming as normal. :D

Sally Jane Black's reviews on Letterboxd are full of some of the most insufferable borderline insane takes. Sally couldn't understand media literacy if they were trapped in a room for months and tasked with trying to understanding it. The Hasanabi of Letterboxd. Sally should honestly get off that site.
