What an amazing lineup and version of this masterpiece. Milton is amazing. I was always wondering if there is more footage from that concert (or TV show). Does anybody know? Thanks for putting this gem up. (BTW, yet another Brecker masterpiece)

Awesome song, and Milton is an amazing talent. But listen to this version - none of the plodding heavy handedness and dull improvisation that plagues much American and European jazz, and is symptomatic of the above recording. "Birdland"is one of the greatest and most famous jazz fusion tunes of all time. Scot Sutherland, my talented bassist acquaintance in Des Moines, IA, does a great version of the Jaco Pastorius, electric bass style. I once worked for Weather Report's talent reps at the William Morris Agency in the late 1970's. I truly miss the live "Jaco technique/sound." God Bless.

It's interesting -- my reaction to young Cafiso is exactly the same as that I had to Wynton Marsalis the first time I heard him about 20-25 years ago. It amounts to "What a talent! I hope he learns some better discipline as he grows up. At least half of music is the silence between the notes!"ike Marsalis, Cafiso has obviously listened to a lot Bird and Diz and their generation and absorbed their gestalt; now he needs to learn to join forces with the audience.
