Alan, in reference to your red/green speeding/no speeding detection, there are two places where I especially don't want to be micromanaged... those are at work, and on the road. I was insured by Hartford, which is an auto insurance company in the states, and they had a smartphone app that monitored my driving. It monitored acceleration, braking, speed during cornering, and overall speed. If I rated well, I would get 10% off my rates the next year. Since I am an older slower driver, I didn't have much problem with it, until I had to brake and avoid someone who pulled out in front of me. The app gave me a "hard braking event". I called the Hartford, and they pretty much told me that's the way it is, and they seemed very indifferent. It was unfair that I got an event when I was the one avoiding the accident! I couldn't really trust Hartford after that. Not only did I quit using the app, I went to another company entirely-- without the monitoring. As always, thank you for the ride. The ocean was beautiful. Now it's time for a hot cuppa.

Hi Alan as a life long IBS sufferer, even as a kid, the best relief I get is from Loperamide the drug used in over the counter anti Diarrhoea medicines although I get it on prescription. Good luck with the channel and the IBS. Regards Alan.

I saw Harbour Fish and Chips (yes, it is an obsession with me!) As far as hesitation, Alan, I live in a place that would drive you mad! I live in a 55+ community, and the whole town is really a retirement village, and the elder drivers are not very good. The will hesitate pulling out when there are huge gaps in traffic, and then they will suddenly pull right out in front of someone who eventually came along! Beautiful drive, as always. Thanks for the lift!

I was thinking of Clarkson, Hammond, and May, and how they can go from driving as Brits do, to coming to the states and driving as the yanks do. Flipping my driving like that is something I never want to try, for the safety of others. Have you ever driven on the yank side of the road?

I love England. My mom was a Brummie (a war bride) and I got to come to England from the states in 1977. Every single person I met was kind and gracious. I found the best fish and chips I have ever had in Northfield, Birmingham. They wrapped them in newspaper back then! Sadly, I have never found them that good since then. We traveled in my uncle's Ford Cortina with my cousin driving. He had so many stories that he would tell as he drove. I will be back again one day, and have more fish and chips, with a Woodpecker cider.
