A unique writer, ...have like 5 books of her - all poetic genius. I wonder if there are more books she wrote....and got published ? I have Noel/Leon and the The Tattooed Potato, Westing game and one more i think - a "weird family" story? - (ah yes, the Figgs and....got that one as well) and a couple of her illustration books. (Both of which you feature in your vid - again wonderful stuff) She truly wrote for all ages. And thank you for this vid and rabbithole -diving - you could be a Raskin character (and i mean that as high praise!) PS can we agree that she beat Agatha Christie at her own game ?

I thought by now that everybody knew that using the camera's mic in a hard walled space was the recipe for BAD AUDIO. I thought also that everybody knew that 'Bad Audio ruins good video'. Please get a personal mic and use it. ROOM REVERB is not at all your friend. It makes you seem desperate and incompetent. Level up, please.

I gladly watched the talk from start to finish. Dr. Stasiulis gave a wonderful and insightful presentation. I have a personal connection to the Vilna Ghetto Library. I am an American gentile from California who first visited Lithuania in 1994. I fell in love with the nation and specifically Vilna at first site. I ended up spending several years there over time. My fascination with Jewish life and culture started back in 1993 with my first visit to Prague. Anyway, the presentation was incredibly informative. However, one piece of information regarding the hopeful future of the Vilna Ghetto Library was left out. As was mentioned, the Lithuanian government in 2017 passed a law protecting the library space. There was no such protection in 2009. The library was placed for sale by auction. I was in living in Vilna at the time. I walked often by the site of the ghetto library. I noticed a sign up stating that the library was to be auctioned. I started contacting every member of the local Jewish community, ambassadors, news media, politicians and everyone I could think of. A few days before the planned auction, the Lithuanian government announced that the auction would not take place. As JTA wrote online, the sale was stopped by my efforts. Otherwise, the library would have been sold and destroyed. I do not write any of this to boast. I simply write it because I am now a small part of the story of the Vilna Ghetto Library. I should also mention that I am the founder of the Vilnius Jewish Public Library. That library will have its bar/bat mitzvah on December 16 this year.

Would the museum know anything about the German version by F Ad Richter, made in the years before Babcock brought the game to the US? They called it Ma Tsuo Pai. Richter is famous for stone blocks and so the game is made of stone pieces with images attached.

Absolutely 100% yes kids especially Jewish kids should be required to receive to get education on the Holocaust somebody once told me it's too negative for my child to know I said well your child is Jewish you're Jewish and your grandparents we've gone through it it's negative? It is the most negative thing that happened on the face of this Earth. Educate your kids don't be ignorant my father was a survivor of the Holocaust recently passed away and if I see Jewish kids I will educate them about their roots there's not one Jewish kid on the face of this Earth that should not know about this atrocity needs to learn it in detail we're talking film footage pictures composiums by survivors that are still around to the point that they cry and learn who they really are

Loved this guy and his wife and children Laurie and Elise--all via Habonim and Labor Zionist groups. I'm also from Ukraine, not far from his shtetl. His father Mordechai Melrood was also my Hebrew teacher at the old Beth Am Center on the Northwest side of Milwaukee. Great memoires of the Melrood family.

Came upon this by accident, but I was an apprentice at the Melody Top in 1969, 1970, and a bit of 1971. (I also parked cars there one summer, I think 71). A formative experience for me and one of the greatest experiences of my life, that's for sure. I can't believe I'd ride my bicycle from Milwaukee's east side to get there, but as a teenager I did. Great times.
