Turn off HDR if you want to utilize your entire GPU. For some reason this game and Exoprimal have a problem with HDR causing the GPU to not be fully utilized

what fps are you getting without frame gen? how about the latency? Logically it should be as bad as "real" fps latency that's why I'm asking. Because it seems kinda snappy (at least from the video).

@@kovrcek Think I average around 100 fps with everything on and DLSS quality+FG. Feels fluid enough for me tbh and I usually don't find 60fps fluid. I aim for 90. If I turn FG off I end up around 60 fps average and that feels worse so... But this is subjective. Some tink 30fps enough :)
@kovrcek

@@tmkongen but before you said 30fps average without FG. If it is running 60fps without FG then I guess the aiming is not a problem at all, as 60 is plenty and if you add FG it's super fluid.

Guys, what would you buy. An OLED 1440p monitor or a non-oled 4k monitor
@efovex
@efovex Жыл бұрын
The OLED if it's purely/mostly for gaming, the 4K otherwise
@letsplayskyrimle9391
@letsplayskyrimle9391 Жыл бұрын
Rule #1 - Before buying, if you can, see with your own eyes, from a distance that you will have it at home, in a store near your home. It is very important to first know the size of the monitor, its resolution and the distance you will be from it. It's also important to know if you can control the lighting level of the place where you're going to have the monitor/TV. To see the maximum details of a game, you will have to have the monitor close to your face and the resolution will have to be as high as possible. However, if the monitor you're considering buying is a 27", 1440p resolution is enough and I'd go for an OLED. 1440p is far more easy to be handled by the graphics card. I own a 40" 4K LCD (an old Philips BDM4065UC), which is a little over half a meter from my face, because I like to see every small details that is possible to see and you can't do this with small monitors. I've had this 40" monitor (it's a VA monitor, with an excellent native contrast ratio of 5000:1, without the use of digital gimmicks) for over 6 years and I'm thinking (read "earning the buck") on buying an LG OLED 42C3 (it's being released to the market right now). Yes, it's a television, but I intend to continue to have a big monitor in front of my face. And if I was rich and it was already on the market, I would go for a 43" OLED TV with 8K resolution! There are some games (generally older ones) that I am playing at 8K (using the DSR factor in the NVidia panel configured for 4X), many times with antialiasing turned off (from 4K and up, antialiasing is not so necessary, the graphics card is not so overloaded and textures may look more vivid), and the image is just fabulous! OLED monitors that aren't televisions are coming out on the market now. This year, 2023, and most likely next year as well, we will see new OLED monitors come out with better features and prices will also gradually drop, at least for the initial models. It's a time of excitement about a new technology, but you also have to be cautious, as what's released now may be slightly outdated a year from now. In addition, prices are still very high and at the moment, with luck, you can still find an LG OLED 42C2 television on sale, as it is leaving the market, for a price below these new OLED monitors. However, I strongly advise you to see it with your own eyes before buying! If you decide to go for a 4K LCD, make sure it's at least a VA. It always has a much higher contrast than an IPS monitor, which is why I never wanted to have an IPS monitor for games. The big difference in image is essentially between an IPS monitor and an OLED. There is also a difference between an OLED and a VA, but it is not just as big (I have an OLED TV and I was able to compare the image of the games with what I see on my VA monitor). And don't forget Rules #2, 3, 4,... and 10 - See with your own eyes before you buy, if you get the chance. Good luck!

@@letsplayskyrimle9391 Thanks for the detailed reply! I am between the Gigabyte Aorus M32U (4k) and the Alienware AW3423DWF (OLED 1440p). To be honest I am leaning towards the latter because as you also said it will be easier to get high frames in 1440p. Still, I don't know how much of a difference it makes from 1440p to 4k. Does an oled in HDR mode look better than 4k VA/IPS? I do sit close to my monitor and I can dim, or brighten, the lights in the room. My new system will have a 4090 so I want to buy a monitor that will give me the best experience.

Depends, honestly if it's a really really good lcd, 4K can be a good choice. But oled looks so nice that it could be worth the downgrade in resolution. Personally I would get a 1440p oled, because that's the main resolution I use, and I need high refresh rate. I have a 4K TN panel and I barely use it cuz colors are washed compared to my 1440p VA panel (and also my gpu doesn't always run 4K depening on the game)

While path tracing is an undeniably good technology, and will help any game lighting system reach the peak of realism. I can't help feel as if this is wasted on cyberpunk 2077, as the game, honestly, doesn't look very good. The weird texture issues and constant low poly models are always in view and never kept far away enough from the player to be unnoticeable. Combine that with the shoddy art design of the city ( outdoors, indoors it looks a lot better ) and you get a lot of technological progress for very little payoff. This technology would be MUCH better used on something like red dead redemption 2.
@Darkswordz
@Darkswordz Жыл бұрын
I actually think path tracing is most noticeable in enclosed areas with a lot of dynamic lighting and contrasting areas. In big outdoor settings it's a bit of a waste, especially during the day. A game like Dead Space would be perfect path tracing + DLSS3.

Mass Effect: Andromeda Framebuffer Format Framebuffer Format: We reached out for additional help in understanding this particular display option. The below is a word-for-word response on what Half16 & compressed mean: “Half16 doubles the size of all color buffers in the rendering pipeline, needs more bandwidth during rendering. Half16 doubles the precision of their intermediate color buffers. It’s not going to make a difference on standard displays. And there’s a perf hit with Half16, so not really a good choice for 99% [of users]. “The compressed mode only keeps 5-6 bits of precision per color channel. The reason it doesn’t have the artifacts of good old 16-bit color is that the rest of the 32 bits is used on range. Even on regular SDR monitors, it is possible to see banding in places with that format. With lots of bending or really fine gradients in a bright sky, there might be issues. Most of the time, you’ll be fine. HDR stretches the range and precision, so you’ll be more likely to find places where it matters.” Given this information, and the noteworthy performance hit for negligible visulal improvement on standard displays, we opted for Compressed for our benchmarking. We’d recommend that most users do the same.
