Just got this turntable in gorgeous Piano White. Amazon had them for $200. Tied into my Yamaha C-45 preamp then into my NAD 7020e receiver being use as a simple power amp. Plugged into my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro and WOW! count me impressed. Just listening to England Dan and John Ford Coley Nights are Forever album and loving this blast from the past. Build quality seems beyond price point. One ding is that the auto stop takes longer than I prefer. Keeper? Oh heck yeah!

They are more or less the same soze as My very old Sony headphones. Still going strong!

I notice he’s got a cheeky Rotel cd player tucked away at the side, for when no one is around!

I've got these recently and compared to my focal Radiance that I drive with AMP/DAC 24bit. I'd say Bathys is really so close.. in term of sound quality not built :) built quality Radiance extremely well made luxury, solid premium anyway.. for sound quality Bathys is an headphone that exactly for audiophiles who wants to be wireless now. its so well tuned and soundstage, mids, highs , bass so well tuned. well-done Focal again.

After looking a lot and taking price in to account i decided to buy the rt 80 because it was £100 cheaper , mechanically it's the same as the rt 81 but just has a AT91 cartridge, and felt anti-slip mat which are things i can upgrade if i'm not happy with the sound.

I really loved this review Tom. Your description of those horrible artifacts that exist on a lot of orchestral massed strings and violins really are a pet hate of mine. Some of the best recordings recommendations suffer terribly with major problems in this area. Some of the latest DG recordings available on Qobuz HR are terrrible. Why are we still getting this with the most modern of recordings?.

It does not upsample everything to 32bit by default, I see that you have resampling activated, it's the blue icon just above the song title.

The reason why, is because after releasing the original LRS knowing that they already set a new record for their price, they had to keep the improvements in the + model a secret, because after a while, they realized they had made a mistake for already should have known what would work better for the same price. That's the real reason why Magnepan must be too good to be true, and since I have a buyer lined up for my current speakers in October, the LRS model people are selling at half price because they got the 1.7's will be mine. Obviously if a + model shows up, I'll snatch it, but people must not want to sell those.

Watts per dollar is an old metric. We have class D amps that provide watts like you read about for relatively few dollars. Whatever the topology, the implementation of a design is where you are likely to find value, especially if you understand what you are expecting your stereo system to provide for you. Still, who wouldn't want to have a Luxman?

Crisp, dynamic, detailed....sounds fatiguing to me. I have sensitive hearing. Maybe the Harbeth (especially the older ones) are a bit "pipe and slippers" but I like a balanced, relaxed sound with a tube amp.

I appreciate hi fi+ reviews. I had the magazines shipped from the UK to here in the US. Very good reviews and not too long of a read. I hope they have more Ideon reviews and comparisons. Reviews need to have a comparison IMO.

Hello, I agree. But there is a but. I had a chance to listten good luxmen integrated in tandem with xavian orfeo speakers which do have absolutly great transparency. This was the first time I recognized easely chello upright bass from bass guitar in not very good recording. I have to mention that this was 12 000 EUR amplifier and I do not have any other experience from different brand with such a pricy component. Now this but, I agree with many reviewers thay say the luxman has character, which is recognizable. I do not know how to discribe it with correct word, if it is air, or longer decays, some "glass" like sound character which I can definitely recognize too and I unfortunately do not like it very much, anyway I will try it again at home if I have a chance because I like that fact of the tone rendering of luxman.
